Me and my friends are having a debate on what Lebron's 400 time would be. I said for sure he would break 60 and my friends say no way. What do you guys think?

i'd say he doesn't break it
55 tops
I cranked out a 54 1/4 as a skinny freshman in high school. Lebron could run a 52 easily. He's very fast.
Supposedly he's the fastest player in the NBA. I don't know if that's true but 400 meters in a straight line I think he makes it. The curves would be tough on someone his size. If he can break 60 around a track just barely.
As a senior in HS coming off injury, I started the season off with a 54 second 400 TT on dirt, with virtually no training for 4 months. FYI I was 5'10" and 129. So with him being in far superior shape, I would be shocked if Lebron could not run at least 56...
With or without training for it?
Without: 59
With: 51
You all must think way too highly of yourselves and your sport to think he can't easily break 60 in a 400. I'm a slow white guy that's 5'9 and was 150 the one year I ran track in High School. We had no track to practice on, and I ran a 59 in my first ever track meet. I was terrible...
I'd put the over/under at 52 if he stepped on the track today, and with 2 months training he'd be easily under 50. This man is one of the greatest athletes in the world. If he could make 40 million dollars a year running track, he'd be one of the best in the world.

He'd definitely be under 60, but sub-50 would be unreal for a guy who is 6'8, 250. I think people are greatly underestimating how much his size would hurt him for a 400.
Very astute observation. The running community likes to believe they are the world's greatest athletes. I'm not a good runner by any means, but did the final 400 of a 10x400 recently in about 63. To think Lebron wouldn't absolutely smash 60 is insane. And to say he would have trouble running around a track due to his size? Unbelievable how far runners will grasp to maintain some sort of legitimacy in the sporting world. If you've watched an NBA game you'll notice that Lebron can operate pretty well moving in any direction. I'm sure he could handle running fast around a gradual arc of 100 meters.
Yeah, but you're good at running and have natural aptitude for it.I remember the super stars competition (or whatever its called) where pro athletes from football, soccer, and other sports had to do an 800. The pro soccer player won. His time? 2:15.

The real question is, did he give a shit? There are lots of guys of no particular talent (myself included) who broke 60 or 2:15 in time trials their first track season with 3-4 weeks of real training total. There's no way JV high school boys would beat a pro soccer player in an 800. It's absurd.
Didn't Wilt supposedly run sub 50? If I were betting I think I'd set the over/under somewhere near 56 assuming no specific training. If he trained for a month, I'd out it at 53.
54 but that is just a guess it is impossible to tell without him actually running one.
My guess is he blasts it out in 23 high, starts cramping already on the back turn and the homestretch becomes a death march to right around 60.
400 is mostly a sprint, but if you haven't trained for the endurance you can blow up.
The question is tricky because you're balancing a massive weight to move and a total lack of running economy against freak athleticism.

Seems reasonable.
Wilt was an spectacular athlete (much better all around athlete than LeBron).

He was a great bowler. He was a great volleyball player. And he might have been a great football player, according to former Kansas City ChiefsÂ’ coach Hank Stram, who worked him out and thought he would have made the perfect tight end."
Wikipedia also says that Wilt ran a 1:58.3 880 and broad jumped 22 feet.
Hard to say. Oddly enough, most Olympic / World Class athletes are rather mediocre at long distance running. Most elite athletes outside of the running community are muscular and powerful and might make very strong sprinters, throwers, or jumpers.
My guess is that Lebron would fare better at a 100 meter / 200 meter / Hurdles / Throwing / High Jump than the 400 meters.

HAH!
Wilt chamberlain broke 50.
Lebron plays 45 minutes in a game sometimes thats like 4 - 10 minute fartleks per game. Thinking he can't be in the low 50s is stupid and shows that you know little about athletics.
