So happy for KD and Solomon. Did you see the gap KD had given to the front guys at 500m? Symmonds started closing it at that point but it was looking like KD might have lost contact.
But he came back! So much respect for this man.

Yes, I thought he was out of it, surprisingly. Then they show the turn to the stretch run, and he's blasting by people. Hope he can manage it again in the prelims in London.
at 35 yrs old no less
Good to see him do well. He's a classy guy. (and no, i am not dissing everyone else and calling them classless).
KD seems like a cool dude. It was nice to see him make the team after his disappointment in 2008. That 800 final was pretty awesome to watch in general. Symmonds won his 5th straight U.S. crown, Solomon and KD nabbed the last two Olympic spots, and a lot of young guys really got after it.
My simultaneously posted tribute thread was deleted so I'll say it again here.
This is so, so awesome.
He was just heartbroken four years ago but dealt with it like a champ. Check this interview:

He was so far down afterwards that he had to rabbit races just to stay in the game.
And now he gets to put on the USA shirt one more time.
Agree, gotta love it and cheer for the young man!
(hey, age is relative...)
I'm ecstatic he is on the team after missing out 4 years ago. Well done mate,I know how much work you have put in to today's result.
Anywhere I could watch this race?
NBC olympics.com its not exactly easy to find. I watched the women's 800 and it was one of the related videos

The sad thing is, and history will show this, is that it took him ten years to realize being a front runner every single race was not to his advantage.
And it is sad because it is very unlikely he will make the final.
He's a little wack, but in a good way. He obviously learned from '08 and deserves every bit of success he is having.
KD always makes the team. All he has to do is prove he can be a factor in an Olympic final. If you don't make the finals the show is a flop.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
