Lauren Fleshman - Queen of the Humblebrag

I am impressed. She is clearly not in shape, and even looks it. She is running inefficiently, not surprising given her apparent ridiculous lack of training. Yet she toughed it out, likely feeling awful most of the way. Tough woman.

Apparently not enough to be allowed to brag with impunity.

It would seem that she has more mental tenacity than physical tenacity.

I'm more impressed that she says stuff like that with a straight face.

Gotta agree with the OP. In fact her comment sounds Jenny Barringer-esq almost. Or I guess now it would be Jenny Simpson-esque. You know a back-handed self compliment :)

Queen of the Humblebrag. Never heard that term before. But definitely applies to Jenny Barringer Simspon. Fleshman may be the Princess but Simpson is Queen.

I am impressed that you have accomplished so much in your life that you feel entitled to disparage others.

The girl has had hardship and she's trying to make a little comedy, and the OP is too stupid to understand that.

Courageous race of her life just to make the final, and likely the only "victory" or solace she'll get this year.

You should admire her.

If she honestly has averaged 1.5 miles a day for MONTHS like you say, she should really not be racing on a track. She should be concentrating on getting better.

We've had enough of her and her silly blogs which are nothing more than an attempt to keep her name in the game. Give it up Lauren, you are done. Please move over and get out of the way for others. How ridiculous can this saga get?

It's been a tough road, and she's had to sit out OTs in the past. I can't say I blame her for not wanting to miss the action this time around. I don't even necessarily think she's casting aspersions on other runners, and I think much depends on whether a runner chooses to take her comment as some kind of criticism.

She's just saying how things are for her. But because what she says will be on the web and/or in papers, the public will spend a lot of time analyzing her comment, and the media, wanting a story, will blow up the controversial aspects of her statement.

Meanwhile, I wish her a full recovery!
