Looking at this start list, I'm convinced Webb will make the finals. The question is whether he tries to achieve the "A" standard in the heat or the final. My guess is the former.

Imagine if Trafeh and Webb makes the finals. That means another 2 athletes screwed by USATF qualification rules?

That 13.32.99 by Trafeh in a low key Tunisian meet is suspicious.

None of this "faster heat" nonsense. Webb will be top 6 for sure. Fastest losers are for losers. Webb is a winner.

I don't see Webb having any trouble making the finals, regardless of what heat he is in.

Racing Heat 1 against a stacked field is the WORST scenario. Much better to be in Heat 2.

hope webb makes the team but i dont see it unless he has something up his sleeve. If he can run sub 1310 then he has a slight chance

I am still in shock that Webb is running the 5k. His 3:37 he ran this year could have easily been a 3:35 understand the right circumstances. Even in his prime Webb never ran the 5k as fast as either Teg or Rupp. Rupp can run circles around Webb in a 5k. Rupp is in the zone that Webb was in 2007. Right now there is no better US distance runner, and I am including Lagat in this equation.

You've gotta be kidding me, how has nobody posted this yet? Heat 2 is much stronger. He will make the final because he will easily be top 6 in his "weak" heat. The second heat has Lagat, Lamong, Derrck, Vaughn, and Hill.

Webb ran very few competitive 5k's, and was almost certainly capable of 12:55 or better in his prime.

Word on the street in Eugene is Teg is scratching the 5k!

Tegankamp will not start. He confirmed this with me and so did Jerry Schumacher. He tried to scratch, but the start list had already been created. So, he'll wind up as a DNS.
