He led through 500 meters or so and looked very, very flat the last 70. Also let up before the finish which I've never seen him do. He is lucky the 2nd heat was slow and it did not cost him a spot in the final. No one (in their right mind at least) has said he has the best shot of making the Olympic finals. The most people in the know have postulated is he has a decent shot @ making the team. After what I saw tonight, I'm not so sure. Since May he has raced a lot and has had 2 very tough races (Big West finals where he edged Ryan Martin 1:45.75 to 1:45.77) and NCAA finals. Add all the qualifying rounds to get there and it takes a toll. It is very difficult to aim to peak @ NCAAs and then turn around and try and do the same a few weeks later at the trials. Guys like Symmonds, Mulder and Robinson do not have that problem as they have only had to aim for Monday. Hopefully the day of rest does him well.
