He got it, 1500m 4:14 low!

Beach and Detmer slowed so he would finish 1st when it was apparent he would get it...nice gesture.
4;14.48, gives him 850 points for 9039 world record. Balls out on the final straight!
I thought that guy in 2nd was going to cost him the record. Ashton got stuck behind him on the final curve.
Curtis Beach was a class act. He slowed down and let the world record holder cross the finish line first.
I got chills watching it. Classy move by Beach.
Holy crap!
don't know what it looked like with no stream for our olympic trials but that is awesome. eaton has risen so high that he put up video game numbers. reminds me of playing the old colecovision decathlon game back in the '80s. 9039 and arguably there is significant room for improvement via technique in his throws (without gaining strength, costing him time in the 1500m.). He is the best of all time, no doubt.
Wow - most exciting. I regret that the American Olympic Trials are not televised abroad...and aren't available (that I've seen) on youtube videos. I would love to see the highlights of Ashton's performance.

Yes, I'm glad Beach still competed after no points in the javelin.
And I was surprised Bryan Clay finished the meet after the DQ in the hurdles and fouls in the discus. Although it looks like his hurdles time/score was reinstated.
Damn!!!! Hell of a guy and performance, you could see him really gutting it out that last lap, what an inspiring performance! Love to see the support and help from Beach and that other dude too. Its inspirational performances by tremendous people like Eaton that make have the potential to boost track and field's popularity!!

Don't worry - they aren't even televised live here in the States and we'll get a "clip" show at the very best.
ITS OVER 9000!!!
LOL the image of those two running neck-and-neck is hilarious.

10/10.
Great job by Eaton, he's just going to get better.
What Beach did is the classiest thing I think I've ever seen in any sport. He's going to great, too, but he can always remember and be proud of what he did.
Imagine how muc better he would have competed if it didn't downpour for half of the events!
Wow, wiki updates fast...

Agreed. An amazingly classy moment. It cuts against pretty much every vector of American popular culture.
He acted altruistically. He did a generous thing and didn't--I hope!--immediately Twitter it in hopes of securing a "reality" TV show.
Reality TV--actual in-the-moment, unscripted reality--is thrilling.
Eaton's last 400 was one of those remember-where-you-were moments. I think I pushed the TV volume up to 40 on the remote as I shouted "world record! world record!"
Thrilling.
Wait a minute! As I was posting my comment, the comment preceding mine was about Beach............TWITTERING!
Shoot me in the head, right now.
