Did Shalane Flanagan screw Notosha Rogers?

Booh f'ing Hoo. If she didn't like it, she could have taken it out at the 'A' standard and kept it there.

Rupp and Ritz used team tactics to keep the pace quick enough. Part of the game.

Maybe she should be fair and screw JCB too and take the 10k spot after all, showing her patriotism by keeping the Kenyan off the USA team.

She was on the ground when Maier took the lead. She sprinted to catch back up and then was supposed to blow by an Olympic bronze medalist (among others) in her 4th 10k ever and run alone?

Amy Loder Bagley had nearly the same opening 5k split in 2008; she ran 31:43.? to make the standard. Her last mile was 4:48? & nearly a 5k PR; she pushed the pace hard for 1200 meters starting at 2k to go. If it weren't for a lack of confidence with 800 to go she might have run 31:3something. It can be done... Just saying!

I don't blame Shalane as much as I blame the Olympic qualifying rules. If this were Worlds last year, Rogers would go because she has the B-standard. Why does it change for the Olympics?

Cry me a river. Spoiled college brats. Maybe Debby and Natosha should have done something more in the race to go for that A standard....Like working TOGETHER on the pace. Lisa and Shalane did and it worked out perfectly for them. One falls and flops around on the ground, the other starts some sprint session mid-race, what does that accomplish? NOt a trip to London. When you are SHALANE FLANAGAN, you can do no wrong. Perhaps these kiddies should take some notes from a real professional.

If she needed the A standard she should have gotten to front and ran on pace.... Her fault can't blame no one else....

Uh No. Shalane did not do anything to Natosha Rogers or anyone. Silly assumption.

It is a running race. Shalane did not trip or push or do anything to stop ANYONE from racing THEIR race.

It is running circles around a track lol.

Everyone was free to run their own pace. Truth is Natosha was probably not capable of pushing any harder by herself and that is why she didn't qualify. Sure it would have be nice if she had other people to work with her to achieve her goal but certainly Shalane or no one else was responsible for her sucess or failure.

Part of the change is that you now have involvement from the IOC and the USOC, as opposed to just the IAAF and USATF.

Remind me of how many laps Rogers led in her effort to get herself to the Olympics. If your answer is any more than 0, please try again. Maier did not run too fast when she tried to lead, she was actually right on pace, she's just not that good. But at lest she knows. Rogers never will. If Rogers wanted to hire Flanagan as a rabbit, she should have contacted her agent. Otherwise, she should have done some work.

Natosha Rogers has not voiced a single complaint. She has not bitched about pace, getting tripped or anything. Hats off to her at what she has done in only her 4th 10K in her career. She did her best and showed a tremendous amount of heart and guts. Let Maier complain about pace because Rogers will not.
