Mom, Please stop embarrassing me.
Maybe Ritz will get injured again? Seriously though Chris is great but he just is not a winner. There are some guys with that killer instinct who will not lose and he is not one of those guys.
What a jackass you are Quenton. Chris will have his day, 2016, 2020, 2024. The world is at your command Mr. Derrick.
I think Derrick is a winner, but he's just not at the level he needs to be at yet to make the team regardless of how well he races. In the future, I can see Chris doing wonderful things.

every race i've ever seen of chris derrick... he gives it his all. he's one of the most tenacious racers i've ever seen. he was just simply outclassed today.
Stay fit Chris, Ritz is made of glass.
Not wishing injury upon him of course, but you can't argue with history.
I was definitely happy to see him have such a strong race. Great for him, and he's got a huge future ahead of him.
You think Nike and Al Sal aren't going to take every freaking precaution, all that Nike money can buy, to protect Ritz?
Don't forget that Ritz was hurt at the World Champs, but didn't withdraw and ran poorly with the injury.
Hate to say it but he lacks the killer instinct required to be a champ. What was he doing spending 3 laps behind Braun while Rupp, Ritz and Teg pulled away?

Did ANYONE think that 7-mile indoor track workout was intelligent?
Again, go Ritz and all. I think he certainly would finish better than Mr. Derrick in the Olympic Games, I just wouldn't be surprised to receive a certain phone call if I were him.
That being said, Chris is still declared in the 5k, he can still control his own fate at this point.
we'll see Chris tearing up the US marathon trials in 2016 or 2020
Some appreciation thread, a bunch of f-tards dissing him. He's only 21 FFS. Were Rupp, Ritz, Teg or Solinsky winning any national championships at 21? No. Chris is doing better than anyone could expect at this point in his career, and he'll be a big factor in next year's championships.
Nice PR from Puskedra too. He'll have plenty of great races ahead of him too.
The dude was a few seconds off of the race of his life. He was hanging on and ran awesome.
He could pull a Brad Hauser 2000. A hopefull in the 10k he didn't make it and came back and made the 5k. With Ritz and Rupp probably not running with the passion to make the Olympic team and no reason to run anyways he has a legit shot at 3rd.
Lets see!

Derrick just doesn't have the explosiveness to actually win a championship race at the High School, Collegiate, and now Professional level.
The same used to be said about Rupp, now only the fastest runners in the world can outkick him.
...
it goes to show that your kick is only as good as your fitness will allow. Rupp runs 26:48 so 27:30 is easy to kick from. If the race was run at 28:00 pace you can bet that Derrick would be right there in the last 100m
As much as I appreciate Derrick, he has no chance to make the team in the 5k.
This really is a stupid thread. I do feel for Derrick somewhat on the college level. I have no sympathy whatsoever for him today. He really wasn't that close in that race. He is 21 or 22 and had the dumb luck to have Solinsky not be in the race. Get on a training program for the next four years and give it a better shot next time. Maybe then this thread would have a little merit.
