Any pop, rock, rap artists or musicians known to put in some miles? Anyone decent? I can't think of any.

This is a way-back; Alice Cooper was a miler in high school. In fact, most the members of the garage band that ultimately became Alice Cooper's band were athletes in high school. It would not surprise me if he was 4:30ish in the mile.

Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips is apparently an avid runner. I saw an interview with him where he mentioned he had done a nice 10-miler between arriving in town and playing a show.
There are musicians and there are athletes. Pretty much opposites.

Jagger's always done a lot of running. And Liam Gallagher apparently runs quite a bit, too. Joe Strummer died of a heart attack while running.
Nolan Shaheed - jazz musician, holds several masters records.
Perhaps not famous enough? But he appears to have worked with some of the best.

Puff Daddy ran the NYC Marathon.
Mike Malinin (sp?), drummer for the Goo Goo Dolls, has run the JFK 50-miler a few times, I believe.
David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Alice Cooper, Mick Jagger...
I think I recall someone saying Jim Morrison was a pretty decent HS runner
Bob Weir 65years old -grateful dead guitarist has been an avid runner for the last 30 years
Kind of going the other way, but Marty Liquori has a jazz band.
I wrote a club hit some of you might know about 10 years ago and have a marathon PB ~2:30. I still do OK on royalties from the song but it probably wasn't enough to be considered famous.
Duff McKagen of Guns and Roses says in his autobiography he ran a 3:45 marathon after he sobered up.
Offspring were all on the same Cross Country team in HS.

Therefore, athletes cannot be musicians? Hmmmmmmm...
The Van Halen kid who I think is graduated and now playing in band with dad. Not sure, but I think Dana Carvey has some musical background and he ran 4:27 hs. Robin Williams is a one man band and ran sub 2:00 (880) in hs.
One word: Flagpole.
I am willing to bet that Greg Hornsby is an athlete. He has two very athletic sons. One, Russell, is a top-end middle distance runner at Oregon, the other is on scholarship at an eastern university.

Funny, but I am not now nor was I ever a "famous" musician.
