My feeling is cushy phylon don't last as long. I love how pegasus & vomero ride but I don't want to go over its due date. I only realized I did that with my Vomero 4 when I just got the 6. I am sure I put in at least 600 miles (maybe be even 700) on it and the cushioning is no way close to a new pair.
My last pair of Pegasuses (the 28s) lasted about 3 months and I put about 800 miles on them. The tread wears out pretty quickly but you can really make those shoes last.
My last pair of Pegasus got to 1,277 miles before the upper ripped and I can't stand a ripped upper.
I wore Vomeros before that and each of the last 2 pair I had reached 1000+ miles before the uppers ripped.
about 500 on pegs, less than 500 on the vomero, forefoot gets thin quick
Agree with others who say the forefoot goes first in both of them. I used to run in vomeros but switched to pegasus in the past year. Got around 300-500 out of vomero 5 and 6 and get around 800 on the pegasus 28.
If you remove the insole, there's a gray disc in the midfoot. Remove the disc, smell it, and place on your tongue. If it dissolves, the shoe has expired, refrain from using. If it absorbs your saliva and expands, the shoe is still fresh, safe to run.

How about the cushioning? Did they look like they caved in? When you pressed it with your hand, does it go in easily?
As an old man with aching knees and ankles I can tell you that the breakdown point is near 250-300 miles on these, but probably depends on weight and running surface. Love both shoes by the way, but they are not designed to last more than a few weeks for high mileage runners.
My Vomeros pretty consistently lasted me about 300 miles before the forefoot wore pretty thin. I could run in them maybe another 100 miles before the shoes felt dead and lost the nice cushion they've got. Could just be that I slam pretty hard on my feet though.
Every Nike trainer that I've owned has lasted around 600 miles, including the Pegasus 27 and 28. They start hurting my feet around that 600 mile mark and lose their responsiveness. 155-160 lbs, BTW.
