It's been a year now, I think--maybe more--that I've refused to renew my USATF membership, as a form of protest in response to the inequitable, unjust, and possibly unlawful actions of John Chaplin.
I missed 2 indoor seasons and an outdoor season because of this, and there are really no unsanctioned meets anywhere around where I live.
I hate to go crawling back, but I know that I've taken a $50-$100 bite out of their budget, so the protest was not completely ineffectual from my perspective as an individual.
This is the first season in about 10 years that I feel OK--because of the early spring I have been able to get my annual initial injury cycle out of the way (torn groin this year), and am already in an active rehab, so I might actually be able to run well by the end of the outdoor season.
Should I do it?
Is it time to end my John Chaplin-induced boycott of USATF?

I don't get it - what meets require you to have a USATF membership (aside from nat'l championships)?
-
Yeah, dude, I think you've succeeded in bringing them to their knees. No need to deliver the coup de grace.
Aren't you a foreigner, anyway? -
Do whatever you want.

State meet and a summer meet series that is held here by the local USATF chapter. I think it's for insurance purposes, mostly, which I understand.

What I kno is taht it is not yet time for Me to ceese my Chris Salinski-induced boycaht of Sprintgeazer.

Stick with it.

You ought to maintain your boycott and extend it to Letsrun. Please.

We each do what we can, to the extent we wish, within reason.
I could do a lot more, but my withholding of dues was what I chose to do. There are much larger injustices to which my attention is turned, and therefore I kept my protest in this matter passive--but still, I chose to do something.
If others had acted to only the extent that I did, the effect could have been noticed, depending on the numbers. That $100 is $100 that USATF will never get. -
There's always a reason to boycott USATF

Whatever happened with the dispute those runners had with USATF? Hadn't somebody hired legal counsel to look into it?
The only thing I've been checking has been to see if Chaplin has remained...and he has. -
No man, keep on holding out. If you want a race come to my house and I'll race you.
