That's pretty close to 26.2 laps on laps on the track.
A quarter marathon- do I see a 1/16th ot a 1/32nd of a marathon in the future.

ugh, this event is very different from the 10k. How stupid.
I did an event that had a quarter marathon once. It was a two loop half marathon, so they let people sign up to run one loop. It irritated me.

I'll allow half marathon's but anything 20km and under is not allowed to be called a fraction of a marathon!

The 3/4 marathon would be interesting. Just short enough that many people would not hit the wall. They should just call it a 20 miler though.

In 'Jog, Run, Race' written by Joe Henderson and published in 1977 he refers to the quarter-marathon distance several times. Even though the tone of this thread associates the distance with the current trend of fitness events for the masses doesn't mean it's a new concept.

This place in Canada has a 1/8 marathon!
I ran the 1/4 marathon there 4 years ago, and it's a pretty popular event. Really silly though
In college, about 20 years ago, I ran a road race that was somewhere near Fon du Lac, WI which was a 1/10th marathon. A bunch of us went there to run it under pseudonyms to try to win some shoes. I think it was the day before they hosted an actual marathon, or something like that.
Has the roadrace replaced the Firehouse BBQ chicken dinner and the Church Chicken'n'Waffles Breakfast as America's favorite charity event?
I like the idea of a hand full of quarters for the kids no the required 30+ bucks for the adults. Charity should go both ways donate what you can.
