Probably didn't go to Nike ,so Nike didn't have to drop Webb to give money to Adrews... Webb&Leer will show @Prefontaine that their DONE[ at least for this season] , I really hope I am wrong........
According to Baughs Adidas is withdrawing their elite sponsorship presence in North America. Andrews getting this deal lends credence to my hunch that Baughs greatly underestimates the role [lack of] performance plays in marketability. If Andrews turns out to be as much of a flop as Baughs has so far I wouldn't expect any shoe company to extent a modified contract to him.

I sincerely hope you had to try really hard to eff this up this badly.
Anyone have any ideas on what type dollar figures were offered to Andrews? What does LRC think of the timing of signing this deal? Should he have waited until after the trials to sign or would that have been too big of a risk?
so i guess that twitter pic of his sexy biatch wearing the nike singlet was just so she could be all slutty and show her shit on the internet?
Boo!
Who is "Baughs"?

I would have bet a lot of money the deal got done before the Trials. What are the odds of Andrews not making the team? Say 30%?
Whatever you think they are they are not 0.
He will want to be paid like an up and coming star in the sport who is an Olympian. So get the deal done before the Trials and the shoe company picks up some of the risk. Sure you could argue if Robby gambles and makes the team he could get even more money. With the amount of money Robby wanted, I bet adidas in this case is thinking, "he'd better make the team."
His fast 1500m gives him a backup event which is a benefit and a miler is going to get paid more than an 800 guy.
i wont believe it til see an POV style instagram of his old lady wearing three stripes
long-term he is a miler anyway. Brannen ran 1.46.60 as a Junior (end of HS then in Canada), but had to move up. Andrews is already past that, but to be a big star he will likely move up to the longer distance if not after this year, then probably by 2016. As Wejo says the money is in the mile. The 3 marquee events that count from a popularity perspective (and for money) are the 100m, 1500m/Mile and the Marathon.

33.33, repeating, actually.

also sub 4 mile in HS which would be a big deal if he was an American
They thought Rich Kenah was a miler, too.

I think he is saying that contracts are awarded based on performance. Adidas did not renew their contract with Scott Baughs. Baughs claimed it was because Adidas is trying to back out of North America and not due to his poor performance. Giving a "long-term" contract to Robby Andrews suggests that it was in fact due to performance that Baughs' contract was not renewed.

There is always a push to get things done prior to the trials. Big exposure during trials , no games exposure as your in uniform. A few more deals probably executed post NCAA as well. Andrews is a long shot but a good investment for the future , Brazil will be his time. Its not big bucks as you all may think , bonus money to make the team , make it to Oly finals and of course medal money. World rankings will be tough this year for the new guys coming into the pro's.Im sure part of the deal is to have his long term goal be a 1500/miler type , glory event exposure.
I wouldn't call Andrews a long shot for the Olympics this year.
Calling him a long shot for Olympics is a joke. Ask is rivals what they thought of his recent 1500? I'm think they took notice.
