This makes me wonder if their are actual runners on this site or all the people on here are fat asses that pretend to be runners.
obvious spelling mistakes in two successive posts is over-reaching. 0/10
Do specific pace workouts on a track or some marked trail to gauge fitness.
Then race.[/quote]
You are just pursuading me to get one. Are all trails marked!
I notices out of the cheap to mid range only the cheapest the foreunner 10 is properly waterproof! Is the stopwatch any good one as all I would use for is checking run distances and maybe pace but mainly would use stopwatch

maybe you also just really like filling out a log in a notebook. maybe you're just being an old codger who consistently resists technology that would actually make your life better. otherwise i have no idea why you wouldn't use a garmin every day.
Posted all my runs for 2 or 3 years on coolrunning back when I was still brainwashed into thinking all technology is great. One day I got on the site and POOF all my logs were gone never to be found again. Actually I was lucky to get cached versions of most of them and printed them out immediately before the went away for good.
Always nice to have a physical back-up.
I've had a couple garmins but I like to just go do the run and map it when I get home. If I want, I remember some splits at certain points to see how fast or slow I was running between those sections.

Dude I worry about the same thing happening on the site I use for my training log. So right now I'm in the business of typing out my log onto a word document then when I'm done printing it out just to be safe.
But the general impression I'm getting here is that Garmin is a waste of money unless you're super anal about paces/splits. I like to run by feel. I don't even check my Garmin until I finish and the pace I think I ran is always within 5-10 seconds of the actual pace I ran. So I think I may be better off not using a Garmin, and every few months I might go out on a marked route/trail to see how my actual pace is(my easy pace usually improves a tiny bit every season).
