I'm not a huge German fan or anything, but nice to see him continue to do well this season.

winning a kicking race is more encouraging than anything else, regardless of time
What amazes me is that people are creating threads about a guy who ran 8:34 for 2 miles in high school moving through the rounds at an NCAA regional meet.

What is even more surprising is that there are folks who comment on such threads as if their existence is some sort of surprise. One would think that you would have to be born yesterday to NOT know that of course there will be threads popping up about German as long as German is competing.
Make the thread when he wins regional. An NCAA champion should be expected to move through the rounds and come away with the regional title.

Only if you have not been paying attention.
One particular NCAA champion (with initials GF) can only be expected to finish in a time between 3:35 and 3:55 and to place somewhere between 1st and 15th inclusive. Any more precise expectation at this time is entirely unwarranted.

There is no such thing as a regional title.
It is a qualifying meet only.
No medals or ribbons.
Wow. I should have said fastest qualifier in his region.
Wrong. An NCAA champion as a freshman should be expected to qualify easily for nationals. Anything less is a failure.

I do not think this word means what you think it means.
3/10. good effort, but far too easy to spot.

I expect German to qualify for nationals easily as he is the former NCAA champion and has a pedigree better than everyone else he races against. Making threads about how he progressed to the next round is laughable.
We can argue over grammar or whatever point you are trying to make by your posts.
Pretty sure the thread subject line should read, "...West Region Final".
Not trolling. If an NCAA champion can't at least make it back to nationals something is wrong.

You looked better as a troll.
NEWS FLASH: EVERYONE KNOWS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG.

What amazes me is that you've posted 6 times on this thread to let everyone know that you think we shouldn't be discussing German. First of all, we'll discuss whatever we want. And don't you have anything better to do then post 6 times about how we shouldn't be posting about something unimportant?

The only reason he won't make it back to nationals is injury. Most people following this thread are hoping he can get enough training in to run the way he used to. We don't know, but we're hoping. When he's healthy, the sky is the limit.
I saw the feed of the race today, and he looked awesome. He ran with such power and grace. I can't wait to see what he'll do Saturday and hopefully at nationals.

The thread is not about how he progressed. It is about the hope that he might be healthy and at least moderately fit.
Sorry if that took a little bit more intelligence than you apparently have available.
I don't think you know what pedigree means either.

German explained after his race yesterday (and he ran well again today) that he has had a sequence of injuries and he's just starting to really enjoy running again. He is a human being, and we all go through rough patches. Look at Dathan Ritzenheim, who faltered for a couple of years there and now is finally regaining his strength and confidence. All of us who love running are happy for German, and for his regaining strength.
