USATF NY sent us an email asking if we'd promote this and I think it's a cool idea.
A meet in NYC on June 1st will serve as an automatic qualifier for the adidas DL meet. More details here:

but you can qualify by winning the men's 400 or the women's 1500.
For some 400 guy who never feels like he gets put in the big meets, this is your chance.
They should move the NYC DL to Mt Hood Community College in Portland, Oregon where there are plenty of fans to fill the seats. It's embarrasing to have an empty stadium in a city for 21,000,000 people. NYC sucks for T&F. No wonder Millrose got booted from MSG. Portland and Eugene are the only Track & Field towns in America and it's high time meets relocate to Oregon.
The press release says:
The winner of the men’s 400m dash will advance into the adidas Grand Prix if the athlete’s time is 47.00 or faster.
In the women’s 5,000m the winner of the women’s 1500m will advance [to the Grand Prix 5000] if they [she] clock[s] of 4:17.00 or faster or have [has] obtained the Olympic Trials "B" mark already in the 5,000m of 15:50.00.
Also, the adidas Grand Prix is on June 9, not June 1. The Twilight meet is on June 1.
um the ny grand prix sells out every year.
Sorry it will still be in the 30s or 40s and spitting sleet in Portland until mid-July. You only get, what, 5-6 weeks of summer then it's back to the dreary stuff for you and your tatted up, methed out, camo-wearing Oregon muffin-tops.Also, since New Yorkers are so highly sophisticated (and demonstrate a far greater human value than Portlanders), you really don't need that many to balance it out. For every three Portland louts who attend the meet (baked out of their gourds on hash brownies or something), one intrinsically superior New Yorker is as good or better.Now go fetch me a Snapple or something. Make yourself useful!

Not sure if this is a joke or not. But the adidas meet used to be in Portland. Didn't it go under?
The first few years in NYC the meet wasn't a sellout but I think now they do quite well. I know they added seats on the backstretch which they didn't have the first few years.
Full disclosure: the adidas meet has been advertising locally on letsrun (so go buy your tickets!)

Yes, the grand prix usually sells out and has talked about expanding even more. With this years line ups I don't expect any different.
