Daughter-in-law of Bill Bowerman dismissed as track coach...

If you average the 17 year old, and her 73 year old husband, you come up with a 45 year old. Unlike her husband and the HS boy, that would be age appropriate.

This is a strange story...the 30+ year age difference and the fact that she slow danced with the high school kid, and she's coaching him, and he can't speak English well...

Crap, that sounds like she took advantage of a foreign kid because she was shutdown by her grandpa-husband.

He can speak English fine! Born and raised here in North Central Oregon. And, NO, she did not take advantage of him. Grow up and look up all the information before giving your opinion!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. According to Kenny Moore, Bowerman enjoyed pissing on his runners while they were showering.

Crazy story, yes I just read it myself. Very strange that the boy's father was okay with it too. Melissa's son who was also on the team must have been pretty horrified.

Sooo it's okay for celebrities to take out high schoolers to prom...yet when a mentor takes a high schooler boy out to prom, with everyone consenting, suddenly it is frowned upon? What is wrong with society? ?

The school dismissed her citing budget cuts...

She took the kid as a chaparone.

Jon Bowerman said he might resign because of the situation, and possibly sell his family's ranch near Fossil.

"The only thing we've done wrong is build them a new track and get uniforms and build them a powerhouse program," he said. "If she doesn't come back, I'm not coming back."

Nice gig. The 73-year old hubby is loaded, but suffering from erectile dysfunction. The 17-year old boy is oozing testosterone and is a walking erection. Melissa made a choice to have here cake and eat it too.

The first thread said she was a volunteer coach. She should probably have run it past the principal.

All adults were aware of what was happening, at that point of time, it is no ones business. No one has reported any sexual interactions between the two. The district/school plainly overreacted to try to avoid any type of lawsuit.

And I can see how slow dancing is basically the same thing as copulating. I've seen worse dancing during faster songs.

"There was an investigation done and through that investigation, there were some potential details that arose," Condon superintendent Jan Zarate told the East Oregonian. "We started an investigation that led to us asking her to un-volunteer."

Zarate declined to provide details of the investigation.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with what she did. Some people are just nice and don't want to see a kid miss out on a big event like the prom. The only thing that makes my spider sense tingle is that in the article they say they found some interesting things out, but do not want to mention them.

I like that the father justified it by saying she is "like a surrogate mom" to the kid. Doesn't that make it more creepy? A kid goes to his mom and complains that he does not have a date to the prom, does a mom then suggest is "take me"?
