I am a recently graduated college runner. My personal best times, all achieved this year are as follows:
1500-3:59
3000-8:32
5000-14:47
10000-30:48
I still want to continue training at a high level and racing. I spoke with my coach and he told me a sub 2:20 marathon should be my goal. I have always been better at the longer intervals and tempo runs. I feel like I would excel at the marathon. It is not uncommon for me to average well below 5:45 for my 15 and 16 mile long runs.
I really don't know how to train myself for a marathon or if running under 2:20 and qualifying for the Olympic Trials is a realistic goal. I would really appreciate any advice from anyone on here who has been in a similar situation.
