"I would Have set myself back another year"
Also:
[ "Once I'm done,I'll probably come back to the Midwest and settle down" Solinsky said. "My dream would be to coach at Wisconsin. That would be my end-all be-all" ]
Does him thinking the end of his career show the bleakness of his current injury??
After reading about injury, my reaction was how is it possible for him to be competitive again? Such an atrocious injury. At least he almost go to his peak time wise.
I don't see him as a coach, I see him more as an distance announcer, but then again who am I to say anything, he might be a great coach.
I spoke to a guy that works with bones/orthopaedics and he said this kind of injury is no problem at all to come back from. Just a matter of bone healing really.
His only "injury" is that he has no heart.
He's a quitter, through and through.
He...is...

Your mother has no heart. But, she did have a huge set of balls on her chin last night.
Nope, you meant to say:
His only "injury" is that he has no hamstring attached to his leg.
Glad we fixed that.
Geezer, you're out of your element and stepping over the line here.
Quite frankly, you're just downright WRONG on this one, too.
Solinsky is one tough mother. His damn hamstring had to be screwed back to the ischial tuberostiy.
Tyson Gay basically had the same thing done. Where's he been? Why haven't you been calling him gutless?
You ever had that surgery done? No? Then shut up about this. Your sprint analysis is always welcome, but you don't have a clue on this.
It was the interviewers question, with the interviewer being the guy who covers T&F/XC for UW and who produces the weekly magazine that the interview appears in. Aimed partly at UW alums etc. The publication is pretty slick for one being put out weekly on top of everything else that they have to do.
I don't believe a thing he says. Not a single thing.
The lack of character that he demonstrated last year spills over for me, to affect his entire credibility.
A "tough mother" doesn't get knocked off the track by a flyweight...and if they did, they would get back on and finish the damn race. He's one of the LEAST TOUGH POS's I've ever seen on a track.
Gay has been TRAINING, and will COMPETE at the USOT, and will give at least the minimum effort that is required to qualify, which will likely mean an all-out effort...likely, he will try very hard, and may only have an outside chance at qualifying...but the point is that he will TRY. I haven't called him gutless because he ISN'T gutless. Solinskrap IS gutless.
And finally no, I've never had that surgery done. I have had full ACL reconstruction, though, that involved the clipping and re-routing of one of my hamstring tendons, so I know enough about what traumatic injury is. I tore it skiing...AND FINISHED THE LAST HALF OF THE DAY ON THE MOUNTAIN, SKIING. It hurt like F every time I went into a hard turn or tried to sneak under the lift lines, and moguls were out...but I TRIED. Like Gay running on one leg last year, where he essentially limped through a race. I rehabbed with Pavel Bure, only my rehab was faster than his. I was back on the track in short order.
DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT HEART. Haven't a clue, my A$$. This is about guts, this is about character, this is about giving it your all, this is about the glory and honor of participation in sport, NOT about being conservative, or about injury. You think Solinskrap will be back to fight again in 4 years at the next Olympics? Dream on. Already last year it was obvious that this POS was done, by his own hand, and I haven't seen anything to change that situation.
NOT COMPETING at trials? Why not? Because he doesn't WANT to compete, that is why. Spare me all the bullcrap excuses...go try to get a qualifying time. At least TRY. If you damage yourself, you have years, YEARS to recover. There were still 4 months to the games when he "announced" that he wasn't going to do trials, and a LOT can happen in 4 good months, in terms of fitness. What, this joker thinks that he is such a king that if he knows he won't WIN the Olympics, then he won't deign to compete? What a load of crap.
He's disgusting. He's an affront. He's an insult to the Olympic spirit, notwithstanding the words of praise that Lagat had for him (consider the source). HE'S NOT EVEN TRYING. And like I said, spare me all the b.s. excuses--THIS IS IT. This is the damn Olympics, and he's not even going to TRY to be there. Do I have to go back and re-post all the vids of injured heroes competing in T&F to show you people with real guts?
What a loser.
He...is...Solinskrap.
Solinsky is more of a man than sprintgeezer will ever be. You offer nothing and prove yourself a sorry loser every time you post.
If this is about character you have shown your character over and over.
"If this is about character you have shown your character over and over."
Yes, and he has shown his LACK of character over and over.
I'm off to the gym to hit weights hard and do everything humanly possible to better myself physically while not aggravating my groin injury. I can guarantee you 100% that whatever workout I do today will put Solinskrap's to shame, not just relatively but absolutely.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I made it through that whole diatribe. Did Solinsky run over your dog or something?
And just to add a little perspective...that article was by Mike Lucas. He wrote for a local paper for 20+ years. He's also the color guy on the radio for Badger football and basketball. He's covered UW sports forever, but he's not really a T&F guy.

You should do something to improve yourself mentally. That is where you are lacking.
All I know is that "solinskrap" has proven time and again he is tough as hell.
I also know that sprintgeezer is old and was never good at sprinting so it's likely that he has no idea what it takes to compete at that level.
Wow, Geezer. I'm just simply astonished at your post. I've always cheered you. I always appreciated your sprinting insight. I appreciated that there was someone else posting on here who even LIKED sprinting.
But this? This garbage you spew forth? Terrible.
Let me get this straight: You think Solinsky should race as hard as he can at the trials when not fully recovered from a surgery? For glory? I see, so he should possibly END HIS CAREER for an outside shot at glory? That's the stupidest move he could possibly make. Doesn't matter if he's not competitive in the 5k and 10k in 2016. There's 2013, 14, and 15 to think about also. There's also the marathon, which that endurance monster may be damn good at (he's likely too big, but maybe not).
So he should just risk ENDING it all for one race? Why? Because YOU think he should.
Also, you've got to get over the Monaco Affair. That was TWO YEARS ago. Yeah, he whined like a bitch. He has since fully acknowledged that he acted like a bitch, and he regrets it. However, how in any way, did that affect you and your life Geezer? Did you lose a grand gambling on him that day or something? Who cares, it doesn't affect you and shouldn't precipitate your skewering of him above (and historically). That entire year, he WAS distance running for the USA. He continually put himself at the front of races against the best in the world and did everything he could to beat them. Lagat thought he was going to lose to Sol a couple times. Mutliple World Champion and one of the GOAT - Lagat.
I've been pushed off the track in a race. By a smaller guy (I was ~165 racing weight in college, pushed by a kid 135 at best). I hit the curb, also, and went down. It happens when you're practically red-lining and you are starting to fatigue. Distance runners don't have the luxury of having their own lanes with no interference from other runners like sprinters. We have to run with the possibility of someone else hitting, pushing, stepping on, spiking, or grabbing us. Shit happens. In the case where I went down, I had a nice manicured football field to fall onto. I didn't hit a goddamned shrubbery 12 inches inside the track. I popped back up, but nevertheless, I didn't get back in the race. Am I a puss? You are shocked by the fall, your ankle hurts and you have to mentally assess how bad that actually is, and 10 seconds later.....the pack is gone.
To review: get the hell over it, dude.
He...is...a sociopath.
Momma loved you, bro. She loved you. It's not your fault. It's not your fault.

Your only injury is that you have this completely gay fixation with Solinsky. You wade through the LR posts for his name, with your small penis and a box of tissues in the other hand. I actually think you may need professional help. Seriously.
Give credit where credit is due. He's broken 13 what, 3 or 4 times now? and He's broken 27 in the only 10k he's finished closing in 1:56? All of that happened in one summer. He showed up after having a rough beginning to his year last year and gave Lagat a run for his money in the final mile of the 5k. I'm certain he's a good guy. Maybe some things he does come off as a little childish and weak through the media, but there's no denying he's tough. His progress has been instrumental in the progression of U.S. distance running at the elite level. He's been one of the one's to show what an American runner is capable of. His incredible drive is his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. On the one hand, it pushes him further and further into the highest level of competition. On the other, it gets him hurt and also disliked by many running fans for not living up to his own hype. I'm not a big Solinsky fan, but there's not a lot of valid shit talk the message board posters can do over the fastest white man over 10k and and 5k combined of all time up to this point.
