Jordan Hasay beats Katie Flood in 1500 at Pac12s

Lets hope so! I was excited (and surprised) she beat Flood and Tebo. Very impressive.

Tear of joy! Oh, Jordan, guardian of my heart, how long have I waited for this day!

Jordan said she backed off the training a bit which seems to be paying off. Jordan seems like someone who trains really hard but never really takes a brake. Some rest/tapering will proabaly help her ALOT, even more so then most runners.

Let's hope that this is the turning of the tide. Lots of LRC haters were jumping on her saying that she's done and over-hyped. Hopefully her upswing continues and those trolls can recede into the shadows.

Very good race for Hasay, especially given that she's focusing on the 5k now. Honestly, I thought she would be fourth behind Tebo, Flood, and Kesselring. Can't wait to see Tebo, Flood, and Hasay come back and throw down in the 5k in an hour!

It is interesting that she said that becasue I had said a couple of times that she looked overtrained. For several years in a row Jordon ran XC,Indoor, Outdoor, Summer at a high level and eventually it catches you with you. Sometimes it helps to have a small injury that forces you to back off a little.

I recall a few interviews of her high school coach who said that she has a very perfectionist attitude toward running. The training she does may not be ridiculously hard but if she never takes any time off to get a little out of shape and let her body reset, she might not feel as fresh as she should in season. I also remember when interviewed after this XC season she said that she she just does one week of easy running. That is not enough of a break, and time off should be actual time off. As soon as Jordan learns to rest I think she will amaze us all!

As a big Hasay fan and even BIGGER Katie Flood fan, I'm delighted with this result as well. Jordan's lackluster indoor season was very discouraging, but I definately think people were making too much of an easily rectified situation. When you're at the level that Hasay is/has been, it's hard (if not impossible) to continually ascend without hiccups.

She is definitely over trained 100%. Years of this will take its toll.

She needs rest and then high quality focus.

Sometimes is not a good thing to be the work horse.

Her best event has been the 1,500. Don't know why everybody thinks she should move up to the 5k.

I think her best event will be the 5000, but she needs to be rested enough to handle the final 2k. On her twitter she seems to ALWAYS be doing these hard workouts and high mileage. I applaud her work ethic, but mileage in the 80s and three hard workouts per week is bound to wear anyone down.

I think she's learning that rest will help her, and I think we'll see a great May/June for her.

Hasay was not a work horse this weekend. She was asked to do only one race, the 1500. When her team had a huge lead for the team championship, Lananna called off the dogs, and let Kosinski and Hasay watch their teammates, rather than race themselves.

I have to say that Hasay looked very good. On her final sprint, she literally broke Flood with 50 meters to go. After watching this race, I'm wondering how Flood will deal with getting her butt kicked, something new for her to deal with.

The races will be broadcast as a taped delay on Fox Sports. Haven't been able to find a schedule for this yet.

The race as I recall it: Flood, Tebo and Hasay pretty much went to the front from early-on. Indoor champion, Kesselring from Oregon was tucked in about a stride behind them and the field was bunched after that. The race really got going with about 250 meters to go, when Hasay made a strong move. Tebo and Flood answered, with Tebo looking very strong and back into the lead. Coming out of the Bowerman curve (100 meters to go), Flood made the initial move, taking the lead, with Hasay once again responding nd Tebo getting dropped. Hasay and Flood then went side by side to about the 60 meter mark when Flood appeared to gain a slight momentary advantage. At that time, Hasay made her final move, surging a stride ahead, then two, while fighting off Flood's comeback effort. The final 30 meters were basically Hasay, holding her lead against a weakening Flood. Great race, great drama and an obviously very happy (relieved?) Hasay.

It's a different kind of Tebo-ing in Boulder, and God Bless for that!
