Hot damn that was a good race!
Hot damn that was a good race!
Damn, I can't wait for the NCCAA's and the Olympic Trials!
If the numbers on the Runnerspace page are right, that was a meet and conference record!
How about the UCI woman running in the next event that doesn't even acknowledge Jock after he drops a 1:44.
LOL!
Sweet! Martin should thank Jock for being his personal pace setter.
I was just there... unbelievable .... and the 4X400 was off the hook.... jock's second leg was sick....but ryan's anchor leg was sicker....wow i'm still numb!!!!
Thanks for posting. Great race! PR for Martin. 2nd best time ever for Jock. Both are ahead of where they were last year at this time. Wow!
Someone peaked too early.
That was crazy to watch. Very impressive
Eugene, Oregon is Track Town USA
jock is exactly where he needs to be, he ran 1:45.5 here last year then went on to run 1:44.6 at USA's. his coach's and his goal is to qualify for london, Jock isnt peaking early. he is WAY ahead of last year, and is even better from last year. he also opened up in the 800m with his fastest opener ever, this all being after running a lot of 1500's and some legs on relays
ryan martin, he had a bad race at ncaa's last year. it might have been because he peaked too early, and i wouldnt be surprised if that was the case. this year however i think will be different for ryan. he is faster than last year and most likely a bit stronger, whether or not he'll be able to hold it together for the trials is the big question but i dont think we're going to be seeing him crap out at ncaa's like last year.
It seems Martin is getting faster and Jock is getting slower compared to last year.
I want to pick Martin, Andrews, and Symmonds for the 800 squad.
what are you talking about....no college athlete runs 1:44.75 in mid may!!
I met Ryan Martin at Mt. Sac. He's a real humble kid, honestly I felt more humble than he should be. I do hope they keep these times up, time shall tell.
He was .02 ahead of Martin.
With his racing style he will get eaten alive by Symmonds and Andrews and if he tries to sit and kick he will have no hard experience doing it.
Jock is setting himself up for failure. It would have been much wiser in this race to go out easy and get some experience of sitting and kicking. Instead Jock misses another chance. The time isn't so important it was winning and the way he should have won that was.
He will have to be in phenomenal shape next month to withstand Symmonds and Andrews kicks considering both of their PR's are as good as or better than his.
4 weeks is a very short time to change your racing style, Jock might get another 2 shots to do so but that is dangerously little facing the competition he'll be up against.
Yep, going out fast is crazy
That sh!te never works
i talked to him today after his race.....i congratulated him and he apologized to me for not wining the race...what a stud!!
It doesn't work most of the time. A good athlete would try to have multiple strategies and strengths to withstand any situation in a race like the 800m.
And going on the facts, most Olympics and Championships have favored kickers in the 800m. Of course there are exceptions, but they are exceptions.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?

Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
