The first 2 Ethiopians will be on the team, according to Jos Hermens. Geb will go to London if he is in the top 2. Of course he probably won't be. Bekele will not be competing but will almost assuredly get the 3rd spot. The meet is May 27.

I will add that I will be rooting for Geb...
You don't say...when this was first announced I said here that it was a disguised feeler for Geb and the Olympics. Now it's not disguised.
If he does it, he'll have made it to the Olympics five times and in three seperate decades. If he even makes the Olympics, he doesn't even need to medal for it to be historic.

Mennea competed in five Olympiads, though in two decades.
Go Geb!!!
Geb pretty much owns Hengelo. He's actually known as "Mr. Hengelo" to the locals there. He's set like 4 or 5 world records on that track. I really hope he makes it, as this will undoubtedly be his last chance at the Olympics.
GEB GEB GEB!!
oh yes, in a minor note, dathan ritzenhein is riding the train to an olympic A.
Links for star list?

Lidia Simon is slated to run London. If she starts she'll also be doing her fifth Olympics, also in three different decades, but all in the marathon. Even more historic.

radcliffe already beat him to it... she's probably not the only one...
We'll also have to see how Geb does only a week after racing Makau in Manchester.
Marlene Ottey, every Olympics since 1980, right or wrong?

She's not running for Ethiopia, isn't a double Olympic Gold Medalist/former world record holder in multiple distances etcetera etcetera.
How many Ethiopians have won the Olympic Gold in distance events since Abebe Bikila?
Hope that he doesn’t qualify. He will just snatch the place of some1 like Jeilan who has a better chance of winning a medal.
Ethiopia has won 16 long distance gold medals since Bikila in 1960/64
This is a tough break for Jeilan. He was lightly raced going into Daegu last year and turned it into gold.
It will interrupt his preparations if he has to fly to Hengelo and run hard to qualify, especially while knowing that Bekele is getting a free pass.
If he beats Jeilan then he obviously deserves to be on the team, right? I don't see what you're complaining about.

She didn't qualify for Beijing, either individually or on the relay. So she was only in seven Olympiads in three or four different decades, depending on how you want to cut them.

Steve Redgrave has won a gold medal in 5 separate Olympic games in three different decades.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
