Awesome.
Awesome.
Not as smooth a race in either start or acceleration and seemed to start moving towards his top speed then backed off and YET opened his 100m season with a 9.82.
Worrying stuff for any and all competitors to the 100m crown this year..
BEAST MODE: ON
BTW...wind readings?
At first glance, his race looked good. I think he was actually more relaxed than Boldon thought in the commentary.
Clarke did nothing more than expected.
Frater did well in second at 10-flat, that is great for him.
The biggest disappointment to me was Thompson, in something like 10.15 He seemed to absolutely suck in the middle to latter part of the race!
Patton also under-performed, IMHO.
Too bad Carter didn't run.
I think that Blake could also have gone 9.8-low in this race, so I don't see too much difference between him and Bolt right now, although IMHO Bolt ran with less overall effort.
Jeter won also, in something like 10.81, very credible, although she was in trouble at 50m, she managed to sustain better than Baptiste, and has the world lead.
She had a GREAT start, and then came up WAY too early and faded in later acceleration to the point where Baptiste was at least even with her, maybe slightly in front. Racing like that, Jeter will get beaten by the likes of VCB, who is her equal at top speed.
Nice start, though. I think she got too excited.
No wind readings given yet...maybe there was a headwind.

Totally agree, the question is whether he actually could have gotten his top gear or not.
Early in the season and based on his relay race a few weeks ago, he seems capable of getting to top gear from a rolling start but to me it looks like he's been hitting the strength training in the past few weeks and hasn't quite worked out what his "top gear" is yet.
Thompson poor even though he got a second shot at the race. Clarke more or less running a 60 then fading HARD by 75.
SARMS regiment is working beautifully I see.
Hopefully Gatlin won't crap out outdoors like Clarke just did.
WTF was up with Thompson being let back in? That seemed like a no-brainer false start to me, but I'm glad they let him run.
Haven't seen any reviews yet, but Bolt looked really decent on the start and acceleration to me, especially considering the 2 false starts--although that might have been because everyone else was slow...but Clarke couldn't have been that bad over the first 50m.
Really, I think Bolt can cruise a sub-9.90, clean. I'm absolutely certain 9.58 and 19.19 were doped, but I think that his natural muscular development has caught up with him at this point. I think he would be where he currently is regardless of whether or not he had doped in the past.
I still don't think we'll see another 9.58
9.82 is trying, but not completely
Unbelievable.
Last I checked, people have been getting busted for SARM's since 2009.
I now predict that Blake will go 19.6x, maybe around 19.67, as Bolt has set a pretty high bar, and Blake is young and will feel the need to respond.
Hope he doesn't go too gung ho on the bend and blow something.
Still think Bolt's looking pretty damn massive this season and he'll probably slim down a lot as the summer moves along and he moves away from the strength training and get's in his speed and technique work.
Vid is up already!

Can you explain this a little bit more, I mean I have a degree in Exercise Science and what you just said there makes absolutely no sense.

Dude, post one single piece of evidence that he's using SARMs or STFU. I'm tired of seeing these posts without any goddamn reasoning backing them up. You think he's using some kind of PED? OK, fair enough. You think he's using a specific drug? Put up or shut up.
It is theorized, at least with 'roids, that their use merely accelerates development that would occur anyway.
I believe this to be true TO AN EXTENT, with athletes who use less-than-insane amounts...that is, Johnson 1.0 never would have achieved what he did without the 'roids.
I think Bolt has been clean for at least 2 years. If he was using, I think he got a bump in his development, but the weights he has been doing in the last 2 years have maintained what he gained early, and it is this amount he would have gained anyway by this time if he had been doing weights cleanly all along.
I don't think he's ahead of where he would be naturally at this point, I just think his trajectory has been changed...unbelievable junior, receded a bit, set a pile of insane WR's, receded to mere excellence which he has maintained.
If I'm wrong, you will see a new 100m WR this year.
BTW, by being wrong, I mean either that he was clean, or that he got lasting benefit from whatever it was that he was using.
can someone post 400m results...ty..internet in the hotel is mad slow
The first thing I thought when I watched that race is that Bolt is much bigger than when he is in championship mode. It almost looks like he is in a hard hypertrophy phase or something. Looks muscular but not ripped or overly fit. Scary to think what he can do in a few months...
