Hello There,
Just to clear up some things. I run track for the Junior High track team at my local highschool. I do not consider myself a good miler, in fact I am pretty bad. My best time at a track meet is 6:04. I think I am the second best mile runner on our team. Our best has a 5:20 time. A huge difference. Next week we have two very important events an huge invitational and WAADA. I have been told there will be around 13 schools in the invitational and more in WAADA. I have run in 3 our of five meets my team has attended, getting second in two and fifth in another (I think I should would have gotten third, but I had done something to my hip the previous day). Anyway, our team sends two athletes for each event to both of those meets. I am pretty sure I will be going, I am worried about what might happen.
My best time at a meet is 6:04, my best time ever 5:55. I can keep up with our best miler for the first two laps, but then I start to full way behind and by the time he crosses the finish line I have 1/3-1/2 a lap to go.
We have three days of practice this week (including today). I less important meet with 3 other schools on Monday (still important. One day of practice. The invitational on Wed. A day of practice, no practice and WAADA on Sat.
What I need to know is what can I do for these three days (today, Thursday, Friday, and something at home on Saturday. That will make a noticeable difference in these upcoming meets. I want to get down to 5:40, which I think is impossible, but I want to try. I shaved 30 seconds off of my time at my first meet and I am going to try it again.
So if you can give me and advice or workout plans that would be great. I plan on working out on the tread mill after track.
