The 40+ & 50+ crowd are doing some rewrites on the record books.
Nice MB
Do you have the link or results?
That is awesome.
It was last Friday night in Forest Grove, Oregon. I don't have any other details, sorry.

Dammit. I'm sitting at home in Hillsboro missing a great race. He ran some great races for the Ducks.
Thanks for the link. I didn't realize Heffernan ran that fast after 50. Pacific looks like it has a great facility-it's come a long way.
Really enjoyed this interview with Mike. Great guy. Does a lot for the sport besides running fast.

I wish him the best as he tries to go sub 15 in the coming weeks.
Holy moly, broke it by 25 seconds. Very impressive!
who the heck is Mike Blackmore? was he ever a good runner prior to this oldman's record?
Mike Blackmore was a very good runner when I was in college in the 1980's. Probably 3:41-2 for 1500 at Oregon in 1986-88.
13:45 for 5000. Must have never stopped running. Or got back in shape. I don't know how they do it.
i think it's easiest if you just never stop running, but i'm not that old so don't quote me.
can't figure out why this is resurfacing a year later, but for the record, ken ernst broke the old record first (15:34.62) last year, then mike (a sub-4 miler for oregon), then pete magill (15:06.82)--truly a studly group of 50 yo dudes.
this website provides unofficial all-time lists:

it appears none of their records have been officially ratified by usatf, which can be a difficult process...
some good stuff from Mr Magill here
Martin Rees has the WR 14:54.
13:37 lifetime pr for Mike. Nice to see some former elite guys showing that your legs do not fall off when you hit 50.

13:37/5000 open PR is about the SAME Age Grade Percentage at his 15:18/5000 at age 50 PR.
Very good run. About 4:55 per mile?
I'd give my left nut to do that for one mile at age 56. At least this Blackmore has inspired me to train hard for summer races
very impressive
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
