No Love? The Flotrack guys couldn't stop talking about him, they mentioned him like 10 times before they mentioned the olympic silver medalist in the race who also happened to be a mid distance guy moving up. He ran a great race no doubt but he was getting way more airtime than made sense for him in that race. Side note hilariously how the announcer called him out for miscounted laps and he pretended like he didn't. C'mon just just be real and admit you miscounted.
his first 5k (ever?), he made a huge tactical error, had he been aware that lomong was confused he may have been more conservative in his response to what was a BRUTALLY strong move. In normal circumstances I think he does a better job estimating what he has in the tank and finished closer to 13:10...
Which is AMAZING. David Torrence is a hard runner not to love, and he is clearly in fantastic shape (as is Lomong). I can not wait to see the guys butt heads in the 1500m, (with the added elements of Leo, Centro, etc.) this is as good as the 1500m team has ever looked in my opinion.
Personally I find him hard to like.
FloTrack guy........don't eat and and commentate.

Why? Have you ever spoken to him? He's a cool guy, really normal dude.
Now he has to get that 1500 A standard and then make a choice.
I can see him running 3:33 this year.
The 5,000m guys are hoping he chooses the 1500.
He's still better at 1500 on the world level but that will be a hard US team to make with Centro, Manzano and Lomong (if chooses the 15) on their game not to mention Wheating.
David Torrence should really be thinking about running the 5k. With Webber in the 15, there's only 2 spots up for grabs. There are NO locks in the 5k. Lagat is washed up, Lomong is illiterate, and Ryan Hall already has the marry. It's gonna be a four man race at the trials between Levins, GRupp, Teg, and TORRENCE.

Levins is Canadian.
Levins just ran 13:18 and 27:27. BOTH races had monster kicks. I don't see how you can count him out
as the above poster mentioned (I'll slow it down a bit for you):l-e-v-i-n-s i-s c-a-n-a-d-i-a-n. canada is another country. like mexico.

First, the reason that Torrence got a lot of mentions throughout the race was the Flo-Track guys had done a bunch of interviews with him recently and spent time with him the prior week. HE really is a likeable guy - and he was the local boy in the race.
Second, I believe him when he said he didn't miscount. The guy is a racer at heart - and then Lopez took off with two to guy he went right with him. The guy is a beast, thought he could go with Lomong, and raced to win. But in end - who cares ? He ran 13:16 for an "A" standard in his pro debut in the 5k.
Third, I don't think after 1 good 5K race you just say I'm going to run the 5k at the trials 60 days before the trials and change the focus of your training. His training is geared to the 1500 in the trials and that's my bet on what he does. Running 1 good 5K is a big difference than running 5K heats to qualify in the trials. I think he has as good a shot as ANYONE to make the 1500 team. Centro, Manzano, Lomong, Wheating and Torrence are the guys in the hunt - and any three can get in. The wildcard is Wheating - no one seems to know if he is injured, in beast shape, or what. And Webb, despite his improvements just won't be in the hunt for the 1500m team.

Look up the downhill mile thread on this site. David Torrence is a letsrun legend similar to Eddylee, except Torrence is actually good.
