I worked on a construction crew a few summers while I was in college. First job ever, I show up at the site with my crew. Suddenly, one of the guys I'm working with says "man, I forgot the hammer in the truck, can you hold this plank while I run back and get it." The guy then proceeds to hand me the 8 foot long 1 inch by 8 inch plank we were about to nail into place.
Well, wouldn't you know it, the guy got distracted while he was going back to get the hammer. Project manager wanted to talk to him. So here I am, just standing there holding a plank and waiting for the guy with the hammer. It'd been damn near an hour when the guy finally came back with the hammer.
Though I should say that I could've gone longer if the guy had taken longer. I figure I could have gone an hour 15. Even then I only would have had to stop because I drank a ton of coffee in those days (construction workers have early mornings) and I really had to pee by the time the guy with the hammer showed up.
