its our state championship meet in a medium classification 4by800. We got in with a DQ but still put up a 8:29, about 6-7 seconds behind the main pack of teams..What should we do? ranked 16-16 teams to qualify.

Less Twitter and Facebook.
Tell your whole team to go watch the Rocky series and then go out there and compete!
its not like we are a bunch of just terrible kids.... a senior who had to switch from 2 mile which was a 9:57 last year as a junior to the 400-800 due to injury runs about 2:02-2:04 and then a junior who just took up the 800 runs a 2:05 and a sophomore who runs the 400 in 53point runs about a 2:10-2:11 and me a mile-2mile frosh running about a 2:09-2:11....now that i don't have to triple I'm hoping to run at least a couple seconds faster if possible..im talking race strategy?
It's a 4x800. Strategy? Maybe be a little more aggressive than normal since you'll need to be in order to compete and it doesn't matter if you die. Unless you already are too aggressive (splitting 60/70 or something dumb like that), in which case you should be smart for once.
Or you could just run it on pure hate.
well we PRed by 10 seconds at regions and it was pouring down rain and we beat our two district rivals for the first time all season by .5 seconds and 1 second so it was pretty intense!
Honestly, I'd probably have your two fastest guys lead off, so your third man has a chance of being competitive. Having someone right in front of/behind you can make you run a tougher race.
Try to induce another team to DQ so you can avoid being DFL at states.
thats exactly what we are doing and for the exact motives that you said. for the past two weeks we've been doing these indicator/you are going to hurt like a mf while doing it workouts like 3by400 at 65 with 10 rests and 4by200 at 30-33 with 15 second rest....absolutely kills on the last parts
second*
I would say go fastest guy, 3rd fastest guy, 2nd fastest guy, slowest guy.
This will get your team out and have some competition up until the end. I wouldn't put my two fastest first because then ou are just going backwards the whole time.
thats what we have been doing all year but we think that being with the other teams will make me push myself to goals i didn't know i could do as third leg....also the anchor is the best kicker on the team with his 400 speed
slap all the lead legs in the calf with the baton during the first lap
Uhhh, what? If you can run 3X400 in 65 with 10 seconds rest you should be able to run a lot faster than 2:11. WTF dude?

:53 gut should never be as slow as 2:10. Kick him off the team. He is not trying.
better yet, someone needs to tell him how to run a freaking 800.

Let the Senior go first- it may be his last race, don't want him to remember being out of it before he starts. Next go with the Soph- he has good speed and may end up dropping a PR if he can start in touch. Go with the Junior next as he may be able to keep you in touch with someone and then you close it out by dropping the hammer on everyone.
Let us know how it goes.
You never know another 10 second pr could be in works.
OR MAKE SURE YOU RUN FIRST SO YOU DONT LOOK BAD. Sprint out as fast as you can to get your name called and school mentioned early on..then hang tough
Who is having States this early?
What state do you run in?? 8:29 is a pretty sad time... That wouldn't even make league finals where I live, let alone state... then again I live in Southern California.
run on pure hate.
