Which flats for a 10k on the track?

Yes, lunar racers are comfortable, but seriously, they are very thick. Much less a flat than a trainer. It's too soft for a 10k, much more appropriate for a half marathon or full marathon.

Lunar Spider R's would be ok... but they feel much more of a road shoe, and not for the track. My vote is with STreak XC's.

Mizuno Universe might not be bad but I see that shoe trashing your legs as much as a spike anyway.

Is this even debatable? If your puny calves can't handle spikes for a ten k then you shouldn't even run one!

Your form must be a cross between an alligator on land and a newborn deer. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't even break 33!!

nike streak xc 3... no question they are the best

The asics piranha is a great lightweight flat for anything from 5km-HM. I use it for track workouts and it does me well. I think of it more like a road racing shoe, but if you are trying to save your calves a bit, I would wear it on the track. It is very light and aggressive, but still supportive enough that it won't wreck your calves.

The mizuno wave universe is another great flat, but this is the closest thing I've found to running in spikes that's not a spike. So, if you want a slightly softer more supportive shoe, I would wear this one. I would only use it if you wanted a "spike-feel" on the roads.
