Hi everyone!
I am mainly a longer distance runner, but my dad has told me to improve on stride work. With my new stride, I did a 70-second flat 400m in a workout, without pushing it too hard (as it was near the beginning) and feeling like I could've run it faster if it was a race. Based off this, I think that with my new stride I'm about 2:20 level for the 800m.
In roughly 10 weeks we have the school sports day. The school isn't super sporty (there's only 10 people who run, including me) but there's been a 800m record for years. It's 2:18.
I think I can beat this as I haven't done ANY 800m training, and if I can (hopefully) do a 2:20 now I should be able to take off 2s in 10 months.
I have thought of a training program, but I don't know if it will work as I don't know much about the 800m. Can anyone give me some tips for the 800m - how to train, what workouts to do, how much mileage, e.t.c.
Cheers!
