Her range is incredible, even moreso for a 7th grade girl. 2:09 for the 800 in 7th grade. This is all pre-puberty but she will still be competitive even after that. She has just too much talent not to be. I see her breaking 2:00 within the next 3 years. She went from 2:17 to 2:09 this year.

"Pump" won't be a good nickname for her in a few years.

maybe her dad can coach Alan Webb to some fast times. He was her main coach up until middle school.

Interview with her. She is very articulate for her age. An intelligent and excellent future start in the making.

Perhaps there is something in the Florida water, but the distance times at this meet are always slow for H.S. and college. However, I guess if a 7th grader can run fast, it must not be the water.

American women's/girl's mid distance running...just going crazy right now...

The 800 age group times are loaded with girls who ran very fast very young - see Mary Decker for instance- and none ever broke 2:00 in high school - in fact most don't break 2:00 ever in their careers. So saying you see this one run under 2:00 as a 10th grader is bit of a stretch. Perhaps you should wait till after puberty to make any predictions.

maybe she will be able to cheat puberty. like gymnasts who for some reason maintain their build during puberty. and, the plethora of girls who dont have hips even in high school.

Not that I approve of speculating about whether a young girl has reached puberty on a messageboard, but Daesha seems to be a pretty mature girl now. To the extent that puberty is going to slow her down any, I think that has already happened.

still looks like a little kid running around the track. she seems mature mentally, but not physically.

"Plethora" refers to an overabundance. So idk where you went, but usually there isn't a plethora of hiples girls in high school.
