3:47:68, what the hell, if not tomorrow, he'll have the record by the end of the year.
Webb is without a doubt a very talented runner...but he isn't going to run sub 3:48 tomorrow, and he won't break the american record this year. where else would he even run a mile this year?
3:53.6
57.1, 57.5 (1:54.6), 57.6 (2:52.2), 56.4 (3:48.6)
Webb: 57-58-58-56.5=3:49.5. Breathing easy at the finish.
Sullivan & Willis: 57, 58, 60, 59 =3:54. Gasping for air.
The first lap is going to be key... if the group comes around in 56-57 it will be better for Willis. Webb needs to take it out with the rabbit so he can hit 55 for the 1st
Fine, he'll take down Maree's record then
No sub 3:50. Webb will probably win in 3:51 - 3:52. And no doubt a ton of folks will complain.
He will probably get the AR one day. But not this year, and maybe not next year. But he will eventually run a 3:46+ or faster if his development so far this year is any indication. Getting his confidence back after the fine race at the Home Depot meet has been a huge factor in his success. Most runners improve, then plateau, then improve, plateau, improve ...
I don't see a first lap in 55, that is way too fast. Overall: >3:49 and <3:50
3:49.99 If the rabbits hit their marks perfectly, then Mr. Webb breaks 3:49. In any event, you can count on another PR for the man from Reston, er Fairfax, VA.
Simon has been asked to come through the half at 1:51. So maybe 55 is a little quick. Let's say he'll come through at, oh, 55.5.
And look for Laban to pace through 1200m in the 2:46-2:47 range.
lanzel will win this race

Lanzel should work on breaking 4:00 first (which I do believe he'll do in this race).
Steve Scott came thru the 1200 in 2:51 on his way to the 3:47 American Record. If Alan comes thru in under that, then the record is on! Very few could close like Scott over the last lap of a fast race. With today's heat in Eugene, I say something around 3:50ish which would put Mr Webb right on schedule for some fast Summer running.
The excitement on the Web on Webb is good.
Cheers

Mcmullen- 4th in 3:54.4x
I predict Webb in 3:24.3424353$463456457%64444.
Alan Webb is no Steve Scott Northwest Master.
Anteater (i'm guessing a UCI alumn), he is not quite a Steve Scott (yet), for sure. Scott's career speaks for itself!! I think that Alan has finally learned how to race and compete at the highest of levels, just like Steve did throughout his time. Alan seems to be showing the same range too! His 3:50ish (predicted by moi) and his other World leading effort in the 1500 (3:32) and solid 800 (1:46) tell me that Alan is going to be a possible contender on the bigger dance in August.
Go Anteaters!
