Well it is the only place UK milers are going to win. They certainly don't have any runner like Centos, Lamong, and Wheating. I bet there will be no English milers in the Olympic finals this summer. Top UK milers go to American universities because it is the only place they are going to win!!

See, I understand when people have issues with people like Bernard Lagat running for the USA, although I don't agree, because he's originally from Kenya. But these guys aren't claiming to be from the USA, and the NCAA isn't for US-born athletes only... so get over yourselves.
Big ups to O'Hare, Peters, Van Dalen, Lalang, and any other "non-deserving" NCAA champions this weekend.

I think he means Matt Centrowitz, who got bronze last year in the World Championship finals. This is certainly more impressive than winning the NCAAs, which on the world stage doesn't mean very much. America also has Manzano, who is a 3:50 miler. At the professional level the US is ahead of the UK in the mile/1500. They do have Andy Baddeley, who was great a few years ago. I have not heard much from him lately.
NCAA 1500 meter running is really the farm league of distance running. We have seen many Americans win the NCAA 1500 meter finals only to fail to make it to either a WC or Olympic final. I would not lose any sleep over this.
Strange thread this. Complaining about Brits winning a race that you've now decided isn't worth winning anyway

This is making fun of the people that get pissed about Lawi and the africans but dont complain about the brits, irish, canadian, etc...

That's the way it used to be, where All-American meant that you were an American.
I think it may have been the Africans in the 70's at UTEP that got their panties in a bunch because they didn't get to take home an award that those slow running Americans who finished behind them received.
Now I see there is "2nd team All-American" for track. When did that start?

The first American to finish in the mile was Miles Batty. There, now you know who can claim to be best American.
Last year he won the race, so that made it easier. This year he came in third behind the two Brits, so that makes it much harder to figure out, of course, but I've done the heavy lifting for you.
After the interview Louis Johnson gave them a complimentary Crest toothbrush and toothpaste kit to assist with their dental hygiene issues.
