All-Time Texas High School Track Records - Anyone else come close?

California probably has slightly better records on the majority distances.

Also some of the records are wrong, for instance, Colby Lowe ran 8:46~ for 2-miles at NON.

Agreed, very impressive marks, although Cali. is very close. Top ten all time Tex. vs. Cali. is a wash. Tex. has sprints, Cali. has distances. Field even out.

Overall no other state could ever compete with Texas and California in this. Obviously. The two biggest states, big population and great weather.

There is no other state that dominates high school track in one area than Texas in the sprints.

What's more impressive are the state records of Illinois and Ohio that have hard winters.

Florida compares favorably on the Track but gets whipped in most field events. FYI: the flrunners.com site has an excellent data base for digital era performances but virtually none from pre-1998 - except the top 25-50 in the 800-3200.

Some very fine times for Florida. As another poster noted - Colby Lowe ran 8:46 and I think Marlon Ramsey actually ran a 45:03. if you add in their 4 x 200 National record - I think it puts it at Texas 8 Florida 4. I really don't know why Texas does so bad in the distances.

The states obviously have their strengths and weaknesses. Florida keeps up pretty well, aside from the Shot Put and Pole Vault (and to an extent the High Jump, Discus and 3200m/2 Mile)

Other states would be less competitive, but there are obviously some strong states out there - IL, OH, NJ, WA, OR, PA, etc. ... there used to be a thread on Dyestat about this (pre-ESPN era) that was pretty interesting.
