I'd trade ten for a minute in the 5k.
My only fear is once I made that trade my dumber self might trade more IQ points to get even faster...

Never. Hell I would trade 1 min. from my 5k fitness in order to add 10 IQ points. I think I can regain my fitness quicker than I could my inate intelligence.
IQ points can help you train and race more intelligently. Plus you need them for other stuff late on. I wouldn't trade them.
I'd trade ten points just to be able to run.
Hell, I'd trade 30. What the heck, "no brain, no pain," right?

From your post I can understand why you'd want more.
At 10 points per minute I'd happily trade 25 in for an almost untouchable World Record. I'd still be classified as "gifted" and would probably get along in the world much better.
From reading these boards you would think that most LRers have already traded 30 or 40 points.
Maybe that is why the average 5K time is 14:30.

No, I think there is a correlation between distance running ability and IQ; it's sort of a hump that goes steadily up as time goes down; it peaks somewhere in the mid 14s and then goes back down.
I'd do it. I figure I am not really using my points between 150 and 160 anyway.
Can I go the other way? I wouldn't mind not being able to break 16 minutes anymore to have 50 more IQ points. An IQ over 200 would be worth not being able to break 18 either. In fact, just give me a four digit IQ and I'll never run again. At that rate, I could probably be able to create an undetectable drug that would allow me to run sub 12.
Wait, ya'll haven't already done that?

If you had an IQ of over 150 (which you would have to in order to crest 200 with a bonus 50), you would realize that any further gains in IQ would be pretty much irrelevant in the world. People talk about the "1%-ers" all the time yet about 1% of them have IQs over 150. Anything higher actually DECREASES your chance for success. I'd guess 50 points would put you right about 150 on the button.
OK, that was funny

Careful OP you might end up like Usain Bolt or Karani James. Fast but incredibly dimwitted/vacant stare.
That cold vacant stare, almost like an animal or something.
My IQ has never been tested and I don't presume to know what it is. I scored in the 99th percentile on the PSAT and 36 & 35 on ACT Reading and English, respectively. I would happily reduce my intelligence (isn't that why I drink so much?) to increase my speed. I believe I'd be happier and more successful if I were of average intelligence and ten seconds faster over a mile. Five seconds faster. The same speed.

The really smart people go mad and commit suicide because of the stupidity and ignorance of the people they're surrounded with.
My IQ points are a valuable but unfortunately a rare commodity. Although I would like to be faster, I'd be afraid that if I lost any more IQ points I might turn into a Santorum supporter.

I'm not smart enough for the mad/suicide stage, but I would probably be happier to be lower.

I don't know about all that, but right now I'd give my right leg for some crack.
It isnt that you are too smart to be happy, it's that you're ugly and no one will ever love you. You also smell like poop and probably have lice
