So Lemaitre won the French indoor 60m in 6.59, winning by a mere .01 margin.
Lemaitre is quoted in an IAAF article as having said that "“I can’t explain why, but I can’t transfer in races what I did at training.”"
Well, at least he is presumably working on that start. He is essentially a 9.9xhigh-10-flat guy under still conditions right now. Everybody knows that he needs to cut time out of his first 40m.
I understand not wanting to spoil his top-end, as the 200m is probably his best event--but how about mixing in some strength training? And not just with bodyweight.
I'll say it again--he is very mechanical, which is why he cannot transfer his training. He is too mentally constrained. He needs to let go. He needs to forget about what he thinks is perfect form in the first 30m, especially the first 10m. He needs to DIG. He needs to GRAB. He needs to know how to get deeply into a start. He needs to do BIG WEIGHTS to get that huge first 5 steps.
It's probably really bad timing for him, however, because he's got to perform in London. Sucks.
I want to see him come out next year with quads and azz 1.5x the size he has right now, and with some arms and delts added in, if he wants to excel at the 100m.
