I agree.
Great run by the 37 year old Rothlin.
Yet we have another thread here on Letsrun ripping the older Haile G, who led much of the way and did run a 2:08, beating Rothlin
Is he back on the sauce?
I'd say that's a yes.
I heard Renato is providing him some of his good "stuff"

Because Haile needed a 2:06.XX
And it was clear that in the 30k mark Haile was burned.
Was he ever off?

Doubt it. Canova has already said that EPO and blood doping is far more effective on evil white Europeans and Americans than it is on nice smiley Africans.
NO EPO
Rothlin is marathon debut 25y old, 3 time olympic marathon runner.
Not doping test positive.
Nice. Röthlin is the man, hopefully he has another good showing at the Olympics.
Impressive run. I'd love to know what he did for training in his last periodization. Did he try something new in his training?
He never doped. He likes Tokyo. He won there in 2008, running 2.07.26. The 1.72/60kg central Swiss runner (and German speaker) follows a lot of training plans by Canova. He is built and suited to the marathon. Can't remember his 10,000 best, but I don't think he has gone under 28" - I remember him running 28.20 in that Euro 10,000 challenge in Lisbon many years ago. However, had he focused on 10,000, I think he could have gone 27.45" approx. He's a diesel runner, rather than 'speed runner' - good in adverse conditions (medal in Osaka, heat and humid).
He takes breaks during the year, and does other endurance sports like cross country skiing, mountain biking and swimming.

I can't think of a less credible poster to defend somebody against a doping accusation.
Rothlin is self coach runner, but winter kenya camp.
Personal best…5000m13:40,10000m28:22,half62:16,marathon 2:07:23
Like Japanese Sub-10 runner, but long Career.
He is very special marathon peaker.
exmple, Tokyo Marathon 2012 3 week ago.
Monday 3000m×3・2000m×3・1000m×3
Wednesday 38km Long run
Sunday granollers half marathon 63:34(hilly course)

;art1759,159538
He is Marathon week, Wednesday and Friday complete rest.
I think, Rothlin is not 10000m sub-28 speed.
He is skip spring marathon 2006,for lot speed work.
Result 10000m 28:23, HM62:16.
his Marathon training priod(14 week),tune-up HM 62:30-63:30.
Rothlin is ST type runner, but not like Ryan Hall.
He is negative split type, strong last 7.195km.
If he could not go sub 28, this means Rothlin is one of the guys closest to his 10k max speed during marathons, because when he ran 2.07 in Tokyo (2008) he was operating close to his max (2 mins off his best for each 10k portion). This would be like a 26.30 runner running 28.30 splits during the marathon! Not yet seen.....
He has never doped. That is certain. Remember he is Swiss, and has good ethics, and a lot to lose if he doped. He is a balanced runner, and very intelligent. Master peaker, like the Italians.....
Ghost in Saudi,
, apply today.
VR has never been caught but he sure is suspicious.
Thank you ghost.
Rothlin is not doper, like japanese "marathon stamina".
Takayuki Inubushi & Atsushi Fujita marathon 2:06:50& 10000m 28:20. (other, Ogata, osaki, Suwa, Aburaya marathon 2:07-08& not sub 28:00 10k)
But, biggest difference is length of the careers.
Japanese runner more race, hard training, no rest…
rothlin is master peaker, no burnout. like the italian, Spanish, Portuguese.
"italian Rothlin" Ruggero Pertile run Lake Biwa marathon 3/4(japan, IAAF gold label).
He is 37y old, winter kenya camp. target 2:08:30
He didn't dope because 'he's swiss', what a load of crap, Victor had an embolism, I wonder why...
Side Effects of EPO Blood Doping
Anemia, renal failure and cancer chemotherapy makes use of EPO or erythropoietin as a form of treatment. The role of EPO is to stimulate the bone marrow in order to manufacture more erythrocytes or red blood cells.
Unnecessary and prolonged administration of EPO can result in polycythemia due to increased hematocrit levels. Polycythemia is a condition that thickens the blood resulting in a decreased blood flow. These circumstances put an athlete at risk of forming blood clots that could lead to stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis in the legs.
Wasn't Rothlin in a big dispute with Manfred Steffny, because Manfred all but called him a cheat?
