Can't wait to see a RACE between two of our TOP RUNNERS. Will quit being a running fan forever (i.e. 1-2 weeks) if this turns out to be a ploy.

Nothing is official you idiot. Go state your expectations somewhere else.
“To be honest, it hasn’t been that close in the past when they’ve raced,” Salazar said. “Lagat has handled him pretty easily. But every year Galen has gotten better. He’s definitely not going into [the 3k this weekend] conceding victory to Lagat."
Sounds pretty official. Sorry you aren't a fan of racing, I bet you'd rather see Rupp time trial at UW. Maybe next time.
Was too lazy to look up a source, so I attacked you and you got if for me. Thanks.
Galen won't concede anything. Even his handshake at the end of the race.
Wait....did I just see someone on letsrun admit to having messed up? Wow.
The two of them should alternate the lead like Lagat did with Lalang and go after a sub 7:30 time. They're both in shape so why not?
lagat will own him pure and simple - can't wait to watch in person
This should be EPIC!!!
Kudos to both for going head to head indoors. Rupp could easily balk and say that he is focused on 10k and doesn't need to race anything below 5k. Lagat could head to Europe to go head to head with E. Africans. It is about time top talent raced head to head outside of the trials and Olympics.
This race will be closer than ever, but I just do not see Rupp matching Lagat's kick. Rupp's only chance would be to try to gap Lagat earlier than the last lap. If they are even at the last lap, Lagat will pull away nine times out of ten.
I am curious how their two kicks stack up. I would not automatically give the advantage to Lagat. Lagat has shown that he is no longer the miler he once was. On the other hand, Rupp is a guy with pretty good speed but hasn't had the endurance to fully utilize it in the past. He is getting stronger though, as his 26:48 last summer/fall indiciates. I would pick Lagat if it's close at the end, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.
I think Lagat will come in with one strategy: sit and then kick the last lap. Rupp I am not sure. I think the first 2k will be slow, then Rupp might choose hammer the last kilometer. If I was Rupp I might think about checking over my shoulder at 2400; if Lagat is there back off and then surge again with a quarter to go (if not, just go for it). I think it is unlikely, but POSSIBLE, that Rupp might try to sick and kick on Lagat. Call me crazy, but if Alberto likes what he sees in practice, I can see this MAYBE POSSIBLY working.

I don't believe so. I think the poster DID mess up but instead of admitting it they acted as if this was their oh-so-clever plan all along - to piss someone off, thereby getting them to do the desired research.
I think that the poster in question displayed total loser attributes and is not entitled to your respect.
See Ruppy fan boys are so aggressive my goodness!! hahaha

Galen is definately improving but he is still a year or two from beating Lagat imo. Lagat is still probably 2-3 secs faster at a mile so i would be pretty surprised if he lost. Rupp will probably start a kick from at least 400m out and Lagat will outkick him in the last 100m or so and win by about 0.5 sec. It will be an improvement from last year when Lagat breezed by him in the last 200 and didn't struggle at all to win. This year he will have to go into the tank a bit to win. A closer race will be in a fast outdoor 5k, at least in a race like that Galen's superior 10k could come into play.
It would be cool to see Rupp use his superior strength against Lagat by making an early move and pressing towards the finish. But that's probably wishful thinking, because I bet Rupp will try to hang on until the real move is made and then try to kick with Lagat over 300 meters.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Rupp trying to out-Lagat Lagat. Ignore everyone else in the race, stay on Lagat's shoulder (regardless of pace), and kick like hell with a lap left. It might not work, but hey who cares, it's only USAs. These two are locks for the world team. I just don't think 3k is enough real estate for Galen to win from the front.

Because the race is at altitude.

Your first two words constitute a lie all by themselves. With that you lost all credibility.
