Anyone have a couple pairs of training shoes?
I generally have training shoes for recovery runs, road flats for tempos and faster stuff, and spikes for fast track work.
I just ordered two pairs of training shoes thinking I could alternate between the two, however. Think this may come in handy for spring rains ahead. Anyone do this as well?
1) Mizuno Wave Riders for long runs/recovery
2) AdiZero Bostons for moderate/tempo
3) NB Minimus for some fast stuff/short easy runs
4) Alternate NB 101's and a Innov8 pair for the trails
The Bostons are definitely the fav. I'm not all that fond of the Mizuno's, but sometimes I just like a super cushioned feel.
I rotate shoes. About the same setup you listed.
NB 890 for just running.
NB 1400 for anything fast.
NB Minimus Road for drills and short runs.
NB 800 for track.
I'm going to get the new NB 890 to rotate with the originals.
I don't get to run trails much, but if I did I'd use the NB 730 for the forest trails close to me.
I've alternated shoes for so long I no longer like to run in the same pair of shoes 2 days in a row. It seems gross to me, as if they are not 'dry enough' to put my feet in. Silly? Yes.
I also like to alternate brands or models of shoes. I think my feet do much better when not running in the exact same shoe day after day after day.
Do any of you guys have flat feet? I do (severely) and am comfortable in NB 1260s. Haven't tried any other shoes. Should I be diversifying my shoe portfolio? I'm 37/M, 3:14 marathoner hoping to BQ at NJ in May. Also run shorter races and do an interval session and a tempo run once a week.
There is almost no one who would be harmed by rotating.
There are a bunch who need to rotate to stay healthy.
The largest group is in the middle where they probably don't need to, but potentially could be protected by rotating.
