I've looked at the top (distance) runners of this generation and I see none with muscular calves, only thin. The only top runner with huge calves I can think of is Peter Snell, and he his prime was 50 years ago!
I'm also wondering about the advantages and disadvantages with big calves and big thighs. And how should a muscular runner train compared to a thin runner? More or less aerobic training?
Just look at this picture of Snell. You see no runners with that huge legs today.
