Husky Men's 5000--Dunbar's smart decision

Does this prove his move was a smart one? He ran 13:42 in May of 2011. Running 5.5 seconds faster nine months later just seems like natural, healthy progression to me, regardless of what jersey he's wearing.

First time, I believe, he's qualified for NCAA indoors. Also, five seconds faster, yes, but in early February. Let's see what he runs at Mt. Sac or Cardinal.

No question, Dunbar made a great move to run for Andy Powell at Oregon. This was a fast start, especially considering that he has been with Oregon for only about four weeks.

Anyway people twist it, it's a great start for Dunbar. A pr is a pr. Numerous runners go an entire year without a pr after having big years. He did it in his first real attempt, indoors over his outdoor pr. It's a great start for him continuing his promising career.

I'm even more impressed with Stinson's run however. First substantial time he's ever put down on the track, and quite a big one.

this means his performance is mostly on his training before oregon, 4 weeks of a new program is not long enough.

he may do better at oregon or he may do the same or not as good just 4 weeks is too early to tell, just because of his young age he should improve.

He should have went to Minnesota...

While I certainly agree that most of the "training" was in place via Portland, the fact is, Oregon knows and cares about good track. The cross country specialists think they're doing great if their kids can continue to be good in cross country.

Connor does a good job with cross country, but he wouldnt think to suggest to Dunbar he could run 13:30's whereas Powell/Lannana drive you to!
