Amazing mens 60m field in Fayetteville

I wish Demps was going to be there, but he's headed out to NM to race at altitude with the rest of the UF sprinters.

I'm excited to see Demps run at altitude.

I still think there should be an "altitude series", or more properly "elevation series" of meets running distances up to only 1500m...Flagstaff, Reno, Albuquerque, ending in Colorado Springs.

Do the 60, 400, 800, and 1500 or mile and 60mH, combined with some field events that would not interfere with the running.

Or, better yet, just the 60, 400, and 1500, and shot, LJ, and PV, and have several flights of each event.

I really hope Demps can get to the very low 6.5x with the altitude, I hope he is feeling well.

Of course Crawford is running. Runners like him or Kim Collins retire AFTER OG's because sponsorships and private fund.

And he will make the finals in 200m trials.

I expect a 20.15 SB or similar.

In 100m he actually isnt able to go sub 10.10, let alone sub 10.

What about the 60m?

The guy is like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes every 4 years. I could see him going 6.61-6.63 this season, actually, but I can't see him going sub-6.6

Shawn Crawford these days has largely managing the career of his wife, the former Virginia Powell. Shawn ran 20.45 last year and didn't race 60 at all last year as far as I know. I guess we will find out on Saturday what he has left.

Expected to compete in Don Kirby TONIGHT at Albuquerque. Results should be on directathletics if nowhere else.

ALLYSON VS VCB

The second highest profile matchup in T&F after anything including Bolt. Allyson was physically destroyed by the 200/400 double attempt, then spent 6 weeks doing NOTHNG--then had a pretty hard time getting back in shape. The London schedule for 200/400 is even harder than Deagu, so they (Kersee and Felix) are looking at maybe the 100/200 double instead, working a lot on starts and the first 40m, and Allyson feels a lot more confident with block starts than in the past. You should expect a better performance from Allyson than in the past: If she finishes even close to VCB at 60 with her top end to follow, the entire London field is in trouble.

Womens 0H

This event has:

(1) The last Olympic Champion at 100H;

(2) The previous Olympic champion (Joanna Hayes)

(3) The double WC gold medalist (Michelle Perry)

(4) The NCAA 100H record holder (Ginny Crawford)

Michelle Perry is definitely the feel-good story of the week. I at Modesto in 2008 when at about 50m into a 100m sprint, Michelle leaped into the air when her hamstring fractured and then DOVE off the track--it was HORIFFIC to watch, and most people who know the story expected that she might never race again. I believe that Tyson is Michelle's first elite competition in 4 years.

Joanna Hayes is also very interesting. She has been (or at least was) retired for something like 5 years and has been an elite athlete coordinator in California for USA Track and Field. Testing the waters it would appear.

And don't forget the mens mile with Manzano, Laalou, and a bunch more. Clearly, Nike wanted to upstage the Wanamaker Mile and it appears they have done so.

Demps' corrected performances are 6.58 and 6.59, so he has stayed put since his last meet.

Hmmm, don't know what to make of that. Sure, I'd like to be "stuck" at 6.58/6.59, but IDK

How is his bodyweight?

Running those times, it is fair to assume that his body is holding together.

Judging by these times, Demps is certainly no Blake. They are essentially exactly the same age--Blake is not even 2 weeks older.

And Demps is 5 months older than Lemaitre, who has already proven himself on the world stage, as well as Blake.

Demps, man, you need to look to what these guys are doing as your competition. Given Blake's and Lemaitre's finishes, Demps needs desperately to find that extra 0.10 over this indoor 60m.

Maybe it's still football cobwebs, too much bodyweight, bad form, too much lateral motion.

I still look for 6.5-low or 6.4-high from him this year, hopefully.

Felix--I couldn't believe when I saw her name on the start list, WTF--but if it would make more sense for her to do the 100/200 than the 200/400, then so be it. I don't think she's relatively as good in the 100 as in the 400, but with women the last 60m of the 100m is relatively more important than with men, so she might have a decent shot if, like d said, she can be anywhere even close to VCB over the 60m.
