Big race in a little town
Melrose is a hamlet of the Town of Schaghticoke, located about 5 miles north of Troy, and about 6 miles east of Mechanicville. It is about 30 minutes from Albany NY.

I so would have loved to see Levins in this race rather than the 3,000 last week.

Yeah, according to his iaaf page, True PRed at 5k, 10k, and 15k in 2011. Plus, he won the 2011 USA Running Circuit. Sure, it's not a World Champs medal or anything, but he's not doing too poorly for himself.

coach d, I don't who you work for, but you couldn't be more wrong. The fields at Millrose are quite strong.
NOT as strong as the field in Tyson. Nike will stop at NOTHING (see Allyson Felix) to not let New Balance win.
And, frankly, hardly anyone outside Letsrun cares about the distance races. Along with the mile, the sprints and hurdles in Tyson go way beyond what Millrose has, David Oliver included.

I don't think this field is necessarily "strong", but instead I would say that it's huge and interesting because every one of those names is recognizable (with the exception of Tyner, I had not heard of him before. my own fault though I guess?).
An open 5k with more than half the field above 13:00 is NOT a strong field. Doesn't mean that it's not "huge" for other reasons though.
