Patience is key. The training will break you down to levels beyond belief. The race itself is absolute hell. But crossing the finish line will bring you vindication and peace. The 100-miler is the ultimate test in running....are you ready to try?

Actually, I knew it was possible since I saw a bunch of 3-hour+ marathon hobbyjoggers did it.
Lol GTFO with that 'ultimate test in running' garbage. I've run both ultras and road races, and I can tell you that legitimate road training/racing is way harder than running 8-9 min. trail miles for hours on end.
Wait - so you've run a 100 mile ultra? Because that's what the poster said - 100 miles, not 50 or 100k. 100 miles is another beast, friend.
Yes, I know. It is the Ultimate. Test. In. Running............starring Sylvester Stallone. You are correct in that I have never jogged a 100-miler, just never really had the interest. I will digress though and say that I am impressed with guys like Jurek and Tony K., simply for their determination and such. However this dude I know that is like 60 lbs. overweight and has completed the 'ultimate test in running' like 5 times now - meh........
Sure that 'ultimate test' stuff is garbage. Total crap. Then again it wasn't too long ago that most elites considered track events the 'real' running, right? The marathon was more about 'survival', right ('respect the distance')? Now of course the marathon is considered real racing. Things change... Anyway there is enormous difficulty at any distance if you want to do it faster than someone else.
well that's the thing, right? enormous respect to those who race the 100 miles and do it faster than others. But thinking you're special because you "finished", "got through it", doesn't mean shit.

This.
Thanks for coming to my aid. We are ultra brothers!
