No offense but you are wrong as usual. The simple fact is that there is no 'they' to talk about. This is a single organism continually sprouting new shoots. It makes no more sense to deny that this is a single organism than it does to deny that a banyan tree is a single organism because hey, look at all those different trunks or, for that matter, that a sequoia is a single organism because, hey, look at all those individual needles, branches, etc.
