According to Ken Goe of the Oregonian:

Good decision. Her chances of success in NCAA are much greater than her chances of making the Olympic team.

Good decision!
A chance is a chance at the Olympic games. They only come around every four years and she can just run for Oregon next year. I think that she let her coaches influenced her too much and as an individual it would have been smarter for her to redshirt.
If this is true I'm very surprised. All I know is, she better make Sure Lanana knows what he's doing this year and doesn't race her into the ground by May.
Let's be realistic here. To try to make the US team in the 1500, she will face:
Last year's DL champion
Last year's World Champion
The defending Olympic bronze medalist
TWO more with PRs under 4:00
and that's not all
Most likely, at least one female with a sub-4 PR will not make the team.
It might be easier making the Jamaican 100m team or the Kenyan marathon team.
THIS THINKING IS MAKING OUR DISTANCE RUNNERS INTO BABIES AND TURNING THEM INTO HEAD CASE TIME TRIALERS INSTEAD OF RACERS. JUST LAST YEAR, CENTRO RAN A FULL INDOOR AND OUTDOOR (EVEN WITH THE EVILS OF THE REGIONAL SYSTEM (sarcasm) AND NOT ONLY WON USA'S AND CHASED THE A-STANDARD, BUT NAVIGATED ROUNDS AT WORLDS BEFORE WINNING A FRIGGIN MEDAL.
IDIOTS.
I'm a little concerned too. Last year she really overtrained and over raced and just looked plain tired by NCAAs, let alone USAs.
I think if she gets some solid training in and takes her talents to a 4:08/15:20 level she has a chance at making the team at 5000...she has excellent strength and impressive closing speed.
She must really want to beat Sheila Reid! It's going to be a tough year to win an NCAA championship with Reid, Infeld, D'Agostino, Van Dalen and others out there. Wait till next year and Reid, Infeld, and Van Dalen will be gone...
According to TFRRS, Matt Centrowitz ran 12 total events in 7 meets outdoors during the NCAA season.
Just maybe she doesn't want to stay five years at Oregon after her experience in the spring semester of 2011. Four would seem like plenty.
I do hope she runs only the 1500 meters or the 5K and not both like last year. That was why she was exhausted at the end of the season. Centrowitz ran only the 1500 meters.
it's surprising that she didn't at least red shirt indoors to stay fresh for outdoors. But hey, people have been doubting her since she was a freshman in high school and she continues to silence her critics.
ps. Infeld will be back next year..she has two years left of Outdoor eligibility.
She'll have a fully rested Sheila Reid to beat
Hasay is washed up!!! hahahahahaha!!

When did Nataliya Tobias become eligible for the US Olympic team?

Anyone who runs sub 4 THIS YEAR will make the team. There are just not going to be that many sub 4's. Serioiusly. I would say for the U.S team anyone who makes 4:02 will be on that team.
Hasay has a very good shot at making the Olympic team.
You will agree in 9 days. I know something you don't know!

We will not be holding our collective breath. Whatever. Jordan has virtually zero chance of making team with her what 4:10 lol.

? Her strength may be better than most NCAA athletes, but she has zero kick - which indicates that she needs to work on strength.

She's running the 5k at Dempsey and she hinted on Flotrack that she's going for a fast time. Based on her 4:35 DMR 1600/4:37 mile double at Texas A&M, do people think she's ready to pop an A standard? A is 15:20, B is 15:30 for the Olympics.
