Tim Ritchie of the BAA (Boston College '10 graduate) ran a 6sec PR in the mile then came back and ran 8:05 3 hours later. Currently in 10k training mode but looking really good. 3:58 is good in and off itself but that 3k double back is just plain silly.
Cam Levins ran 13:42 and 7:48. That would have looked good any other weekend but this time he just looks like a pansy.
Similar double I remember from a few years back was Nathan Brennan in his final indoor season (I think it was 2005). At NCAAs he doubled the 800/3000, with about an hour in between, running 1:47.X and 8:05 if I remember correctly. I also believe he had doubled the evening before, qualifying in the 800 and anchoring the DMR.
The Levins and Brannen doubles are obviously both very impressive.
But this 3:58/8:05 is coming from a person who's mostly unknown whereas Brannen is already an established phenomenal runner and Levins is now making his stamp on the NCAA. Hopefully this means big things for this post-collegiate working full time.

As a New England runner I got a pretty big kick out of seeing Tim run so well the other night.

You're correct....he puts in full-time hours as a coach and receives part-time pay. He also holds down two other jobs to help pay the bills. Forget the endless comparisons...that was a stud double, so let's just leave it at that!

There was another thread on Tim over the weekend. Link to the mile below. Can you imagine running the dream of lifetime race and then need to come back 3-4 hours later to run a 3k and drop an 8:05? That mental toughness is pretty special.
this race reminds me a lot of my starcraft double a few years back, i had to take on two formidable opponents but using my incredible mental toughness i was able to achieve each victory.. its been an honor teaching Tim Ritchie all the skills he knows.

Worcester, MA is know for three things...The J Geils Band, Dennis Leary....and Tim Ritchie. That's blue collar baby!
I know a 17 year old high school kid that once completed a double like this...
The guys in my club, Greater Boston TC, and I were yelling like crazy at BU on Saturday for Tim and are delighted in his two great performances.
