If I'm Meb, I run through Beaverton with my middle fingers fully extended.
Webb is basically a NIke product, similar to Rupp, if Rupp had 5 years of shit running Nike would still hang on to him, because he is marketable. Meb could have stayed with Nike I am sure for a much lowered rate/ or lower than what he makes from Sketchers.

Yupp.
In the last three years, Meb's done about 50 times as much as Webb to make a name for himself. Make that 500. Meb is actually a far bigger name with runners in the U.S. than Webb is.
Nike did not drop Meb. They could not agree on a contract so Meb shopped around and went with Skechers.
Nike and Webb also couldn't agree on a contract. Webb was without a contract for a while then went back with Nike.
Nike did not drop anybody. I assume neither of them got as much money as they were hoping.
Meb Keflezighi is at least 26.2x more marketable than Galen Rupp.
After breaking the high school mile record, Webb inspired a generation of American runners.
Webb is still almost assuredly the most well known American middle distance track athlete.
Meb dropped Nike, not vice versa. Webb went back with his tail between his legs and in all likelyhood took a major pay cut.

This is the correct answer. Both had contracts that expired at the end of 2010 and both received offers they didn't like. After some comparison shopping Webb took his pay cut but Meb held out too long and the offer expired. The market for these athletes is like a baseball player playing in a four-team league that includes the Yankees, Brewers, Royals and Expos; if the Yankees don't give you what you feel you are worth you are not likely going to get it from the others.
So, to which shoe companies are the other three teams comparable?
I think its' more like Yankees and RedSox, and then the Brewers, Royals and Expos. There's Nike at the top, Adidas which is not quite Nike but still up there, and then there's New Balance, Saucony and the rest. Puma would be like the team that blows most of their money on one guy (Bolt).
blows?

Fair, but are you talking track, roads, trails, ultras? Or just Olympics?
how come webb gets that sick track and field logo on his singlet (upper right). I also noticed that Ritz has the same one too. however, other nike athletes such as Abdi don't have it... explain
It's the Oregon Project logo.
Man, you guys need to get out more. The Expos haven't existed for ten years.
New York Nike, Boston Adidas, Brewers NB, St Louis Asics, Sketchers Durham Bulls, Hoka, Sketchers, inov8 Oregon State Beavers. Since everyone is on a baseball kick
