Heard from a teammate today that Walter Dix has a broken foot and is out for the year or at least til after Olympic Trials. Can anyone confirm this is true?

How can a broken foot put him out for the year? Unless he is getting it amputated, that wouldn't make sense. Surely he can rehab it, lift weights (get huge), other stuff to maintain fitness, and have a go at the olympic trials?

A teammate where? FSU?
Yea a teammate of mine said he got a text saying this but it wasn't direct from Dix. Said it was in a critical spot on foot that takes a long time to heal so thats why it could be such a serious issue. Hear its like Curtiss Mitchell's that kept him from running all year last year.
I mean, that can happpen with a mid-foot fracture.
I don't have any info that Dix actually does have a broken foot. But, it would require a minimum of 6 weeks off for injury, which would put him into March, then he would not be able to put full force on it until it got used to the pounding.
That would give him 2-3 months for general prep and specific prep. He does not need to run a qualifier this year, but it would still be very difficult to pull off given the level of competition.
Sux if true. He keeps getting hurt so much, dude is jinxed. Who is his coach? He still with his old FSU coach? Those guys run fast every year but they do seem to get a lota guys hurt
He's with John Smith now.

0/10
Dix is hurt but I'm hearing its been awhile and he should be back running by end of February. Heard another one of the sprinters training with Dix and Smith also has a fractured foot. Didn't catch his name though. Strange deal for foot fractures in sprinters seems to me.
Assuming he is actually injured:
Ah, the life of a real sprinter.
I'm telling all you non-sprinters out there, it is all about injury cycle.
I worry about Bolt hurting his feet. Years ago I predicted that would be his undoing, that he is too big to be durable. I stand by that prediction, especially now that he's apparently gained a bit of weight.
Dix has always seemed to me to "hammer" his starts--rather than staying low and driving long, he seems to hammer his feet into the track, rather vertically, which may account for his not-great start--that is, he doesn't seem to "feel" the ground at the start, to "paw" the ground, he seems to hammer "at" the ground instead.
Don't know if I'm on base here, but if I am, that would be responsible for lots of foot stress--and he SHOULD have been working on some start mechanics IMHO.
Guy is an unbelievable sprinter. If he's coming back in February, I think that will be enough time. Sometimes time off can be a good thing, depending on what he's doing for rehab.
First Gay, now Dix...I'm waiting for Gatlin to go down...oh yeah, didn't he show up with frostbite?
More room for......Demps.
Distance guys often don't understand that a elite 100meters inflicts something similiar to the total pounding of a 4 minute mile but it happens in just10 seconds.

Well it's probably either Richard Thompson or Ryan Bailey. The latter of which would really suck.
its called a jones fracture - if i was a betting man -- poor blood supply to the proximal end of the 5th metatarsal -
Will Gay take advantage of vulnerable Dix?

pun intended?;)
Ato has tweeted that he doesn't know anything about Dix breaking his foot. Nor has Dix or his agent said anything.
So I think I'll call the whole thing bs and Socal coach a fraud.
Regarding, Dix' start, I would expect John Smith to get him to drive properly
Bailey and Dix are both injury prone, so it wouldn't surprise me.

could also be a navicular stress fracture.

Yeah, Bolt has always been super injured. Especially his feet.
