I didn't really realize how fast last lap was. I always thought he went out and ran from the front even pace for this state record.

Gotta love watching HS kids go out in 58-59 and finish in 4:14-20. Bet their lungs are still burning 23 years later!

Bob was incredibly strong having to lead the last 800 in somewhat windy conditions for a 4:05.

I only coached Rich in track, not cross country. Rich finished 9th at the 1987 Ohio State Cross Country Meet, about one minute behind Bob Kennedy. Here are the results:
